OK, first ill tell you what were trying to do...

My parents have a remodeling company, they do alot of home show/trade shows. they want to have a computer setup at the homeshow, to run a flash presentation. the presentation is somewhat interactive, so they need a mouse and keyboard.

It has to be very portable - they're getting a 19" lcd, and dont want to carry a tower with them to trade shows - small and light is the key.

dont want a laptop, for what they're doing they dont need it, and kids would ruin it

Ive seen it before, where someone had a Ipod or somthing hooked doing this kind of setup, you can hook a keyboard/mouse and monitor to it? and put a flash presentation on it? i dont know much about them...but that would be perfect seeing how small and light they are.

any help or suggestions is appreciated, were going to bestbuy or somthing tomorrow, we need this stuff for next weekend, so they need it by tuesday or so to learn how to use it.

I've read that you can put flash/quicktime presentations on an iPod Video to hook it up to a screen, but I don't know about having a kb/mouse on it as well. Have you looked into a PDA with bluetooth - you can have a kb/mouse hooked up that way.

Its easy, but you will need a laptop. Just set up the laptop and keep it closed. Hook up the 19" LCD to it and run a USB mouse and keyboard setup. You wouldn't even need an expensive laptop just get one with at least the lcd\monitor connection and a usb port. Watchout though some cheap laptops don't always have all the connections. Only way i know to run a flash presentation and make it interactive.

I don't see how the kids can ruin a laptop they can't touch. Just lock the laptop and strap it to a table with zip ties. That way the only access is via the mouse and keyboard setup.

Cheap laptop $600 - my client just picked up an inexpensive Compaq V2000Z at CompUSA for $450
Mouse - $20
Keyboard - $20
19" LCD - $300+

Stop thinking easy and cheapest as it will cost you more in the future. If you get a more versitile setup now, even one that is still relatively inexpensive it will do way more then you need and still cost you little. Only used parts in this setup is the mouse and keyboard. You could even box in the laptop (remember to allow air circulation otherwise it will fry) to prevent people from even attempting to touch the laptop. But like i said set up everything then zip tie the laptop to a stand and no one should even try to touch the laptop.
