Bought a set of 17" '05 takeoffs. When my original tires on the car now wear out I will replace them with winter tires. I'm thinking of using the new '05 wheels/tires only when snow is in the forecast--I don't plan on doing the twice a year swap, I'll just swap the winter stuff if there's a chance for snow. The '05 wheels will always have all seasons on them so if I get caught out with them in snow by some freak chance I'm not too worried. I'm interested in going narrower since in my experience it helps cut thru to the pavement better. I know that an 8" rim can fit a 225 section width, can you do a 215/50 or 205/55 (sidewall height similar to stock)?

We are running 225/45's even though this winter hasn't needed them yet.

A smaller width tire in the snow is better and will not hurt performance.

Thanks guys; my 'default' size will be 225/45, but I might try to go to a 215/50 or 205/55 depending on whats available.
