I'm guessing that 05 production will be stepping way up. We were allocated 6 2004 GTO's and I've already been allocated 5 2005's. That's a huge increase.

Could that be a factor of dealers who got a lot of 2004s and may have had trouble selling them, haven't ordered 2005s?

Hopefully they will actually hit their 18K car mark for 05.

Rare? Im sorry but the 04 GTO will never be rare. I have a 30th anniversary T/A. 1 of 1500 in the US and I dont consider it rare. That is about 30 per state.

Hate to break it to you, but that is rare. The 2004 GTO was rare since it hit almost a year ago.
I think they should trim production, and use the leftover capacity to put together some left-hand drive LS2 Utes for Chevrolet.

Any final production numbers on the 04 GTO
Here's the response I received today from Pontiac:
Thank you for contacting Pontiac and for your interest in the 2004 Pontiac GTO! We apologize for any inconvenience, however due to the GTO being produced in Australia, we do not yet have the production totals for the GTO. Production ceased on August 6th 2004, and we can expect final numbers anywhere from 8-10 weeks after final production. To obtain more information regarding the GTO, please visit www.pontiac.com or contact your preferred dealership.

I hope the dealers ddont try to mark up the GTO above MSRP like they did the 04 when it came out.

I disagree
here is the breakdown of how it was supposed to be when there where going to be 18k
Phanton Black Metallic (24%)------Black(75%) or Red(25%)
Torrid Red(22%)------------------Black(75%) or Red(25%)
Quicksilver Metallic(20%)----------Black(75%) or Red(25%)
Impulse Blue Metallic(13%)--------Black(70%) or Blue(30%)
Yellow Jacket(10%)---------------Black(100%)
Cosmos Purple Metallic(6%)--------Dark Purple(100%)
Barbados Blue Metallic(5%)--------Black(100%)
so assuming only 10k were made and the table above holds true.....then there would only be 1300 IBM's made and of that only 390 with the blue interior.....that is RARE to me......and your car 1 of 1500? You dont think its rare? :sneaky:

Depending on either A4 or M6 for each color combo will add to the rarity also.

I once owned an Aston Martin that was #10 of 43... I have trouble thinking of any modern production car (even Astons) as rare.
OTOH, there may be less than a hundred Purple '04s left after twenty years worth of rust and telephone pole encounters have taken their toll, and I'll certainly concede that they'll qualify.

Gee, I hope mine's one of those hundred. At the rate I drive, it will only have about 80k on it.

YellowJacket/Black
Midnight Blue/Black
Quicksilver/Red w/NBC apprearance package
Automatics:

Some days you're the bird, some days you're the statue Scott. :D
Anyway, they can only produce 18,000 a year per their contract, so NO, there won't be additional production unless the contract was ratified and I think we'd have heard about it.
A few things;
A) I would've thought IBM would be most popular.
B) At 10,000 or so, yes, these cars will be rare. GM sells what, 1,000,000 vehicles a year (cars, trucks, fleet sales, etc)? 10,000 is about 1% of that total. GM sells a zillion Cavalier's, Impala's, Grand Prix's, Sunfires, etc a year, but less than 10k GTO's? You wouldn't consider that rare?
30 per state? Maybe in Wyoming that'd be common, but flat rating it isn't an accurate statistical breakout. You need to weight it per the population of each state. 30 in Wyoming is probably the entire vehicle population of the state, 30 here in Illinois is like throwing deck chairs of the Titanic. There are 30 cars total on my block alone in far western suburbia.

Don't forget the "Pulse Red" I believe there are 800 of them. Which would make it slightly less than 7% of a 12K car production run

The announcement for the Pulse Red option stated that the W40 option was "available" on the last 800. It remains to be seen how many of those last 800 actually had that option added to the order.

The NBA,B anc C packages are basically the autocross package that Pontiac had at SEMA this past year. It's like a ground effects package basically. It looks from the pics that I've seen that it will have a different front and rear bumper and different side skirts from the regular production model and a different spoiler.
The 3 different codes are just for the color of the package. They all contain the same parts, they're just different colors. Ex. NBC is for silver cars and NBA is for red. You can only get the package the in Black, Silver or Red.

I see, I was thinking that perhaps you could choose to only get certain pieces of the package. This makes more sense, thanks.
Morpheus
09-09-2004, 06:05 AM
I do believe that you will be able to get the pieces seperately once they are made available to GM accessories. I've been hearing that all components of the package will be made available through GM for those that have 04 models or models that aren't black, red or silver.
The announcement for the Pulse Red option stated that the W40 option was "available" on the last 800. It remains to be seen how many of those last 800 actually had that option added to the order.
Actually, when the last 800 orders for '04 GTO's were being transmitted to GM, a constraint was in effect that required W40 package to be selected. So.....every one of the last 800 will be W40.
On a side note, when I placed our order during that constraint period, M6 transmissions were also on constraint. It's possible that all of the W40's will be A4's. Hope not....Any other dealers on here order a M6 W40?
Morpheus
09-11-2004, 11:21 AM
There are W40 6 speeds that were ordered. I've checked dealer inventory close to me to see what was ordered and there were a lot of M6's. Even though the M6 was on constraint there were dealers that had M6 allocation.
