View Full Version : BFGoodrich KDW-2 (aka NT) ?
I'd like to get some opinions,
Anyone out there have personal expirence with these tires?
I just recieved my new CCW SP500 which came mounted with these and man is that an agressive tread pattern. I had planned on mounting up Goodyear F-1's but John made me a great deal on these and said I would really like them. In a nutsheel he said while he agreed the F-1's are a top notch tire these are not far behind.
The bad news for me is until the fender roller finds it's way to my house (Hey Big Brown where are you?:( ) they will be sitting in the garage which has me fairly bummed because these CCW wheels look HOT!

Um....
This thread is worthless without pics!!
I have the KDW and love 'em.
Aggressive tread pattern, great in the rain.
They don't spin as easily on hard acceleration.
Fairly quiet.
A much much better tire than the KDWS that came with the car.

These are the tires I will probably go with. My friend just got them on his STI, they are quiet and the grip is really good. He is even impressed with how they stick, pretty good when you consider just how soft and sticky the OEM tires are on the STI.
Oh yeah, get some pics up ASAP.

I ran the KDW-NT's on the factory 18's this summer and switched back to the factory 17's and KDWS for the winter. The KDW-NT's are great in the rain and seem to be wearing well. I have about 8k miles on them and they still look new-should be good for 30K miles (I'm easy on tires though). Seem a little stickier as well and there was very minimal loss in ride quality compared to the stock 17's. My only complaint is that they were significantly noisier than the stock tires. They have a cool tread pattern and look really great on the 18" rims. I'll switch back to this combo as soon as winter is over. Be careful around the curbs though...there is very little sidewall with the 40 series tires to protect the rims. I just barely kissed a curb while parking and I've got a little scrape on one of the rims.

I've heard good things about these tires. The only bad thing have heard about them is they are alittle loud. I plan on getting some when I get some new rims in a few weeks :)
Thanks guys for the feedback. As soon as I can I will post pics of the new tires on the car even if I can't drive the car with the 275's on the rear until the fender roller arrives at my house.

I've read A LOT on these tires and they have amazing dry AND wet traction and will pull off some decent 60' times. The only problem is they wear really fast.
I have the KDW 2's on my CCW's and love them! Here's a few pics of what the tread looks like.

Man those SP505's really make the car!

I've got 'em, too. Good wet traction. I don't think they hook up very well in the dry when they are cold. Put some heat in them and they hook hard, though. I'd get them again.
My alignment was off with the KDWS and they were feathered so I don't have a good frame of reference to tell if the KDW is any louder. I do not that at 80 mph on smooth pavement they are not any louder than my feathered stockers were with -1.3 of camber.
Well they arrived yesterday and I mounted them on tonight and went for a short spin. After putting on some miles the wife and I checked out how well they hook up, downside is I really need to roll the fender lips before I try that one again. LOL! They do track a whole lot better than old KDWS and the Portenza's but can't really say if they are as good as the GDY F-1's yet. Anyway yep, they are a tad bit loud so I will be pulling out the trunk liners and installing some Dynamat on the rear wheel wells.
Can't wait to roll the lips and try again. I'll shoot some pics in the AM and try to post them so you guys can see what the wheels look like, man they make the car!

I just had the KDW put on 18ich stock GTO rims. It's a great peforming time that comes at small price for noise and comfort. It's typical for this type of low profile and trend design. I will keep my stock 17's for the very long vacation trips and bad winters. The KDW2 is the number one performance tire on the Tire Rack reviews.
Have fun.

i have these tires on my gto (245x40x18 on ASA wheels) i have about 13,000 miles on them with good wear. they are great all around tires. two things they lack are summer only tires so i put the stockers back on for the little winter driving i do and they are a harder compound so when you push them hard they do not have the grip the softer tires have.

just curious, what size did you get? What size tires as well? Also, what did you pay? (you can PM me if you want)

The wheels are 18x8.5 front and 18x10 rear. The tires are 245/40 front and 275/35 rear.
The price to pick up at Southwest Airlines cargo was $3540 including tires ($750), wheels, and freight ($180). The wheels and lugs were $2600.
