I just brought my 2004 GTO to the dealer regarding the tires rubbing on the strut. Pontiac told me they will put 4 new tires on, and align the front with a more positive camber, per GM. I thought the problem was the opposite, needed negative camber

Nope. Their "fix" is to increase camber to bring the top of the tire away from the front strut. Decreasing camber will push the top of the tire closer to the strut.

For handling you still want the overall camber to be negative. The last time I had a four wheel computerized alignment was when I lowered my Vette. Ended up with -0.4 LF / -0.1 RF / -0.4 LR / -0.3 RR (degrees)

Make the dealership give you a computer printout of the before and after alignment measurements.
