View Full Version : will all BMW wheels fit on a GTO?
bleek

Saw they have the same bolt pattern, and I believe the offsets are similar...does that mean that most BMW wheels will fit correctly on a GTO (i.e. hamann, schnitzer, etc)?
I know very very little about wheels, sorry if this question is noob.

Double check the offset and width. Only the 3 series ones work right (not the staggered M3 setup). The 5 and 7 series have too little offset, and will stick out past our fenders.

just want to make sure...M3 wheels will definitely NOT work, right?

the fronts will work but the larger rears will not. you could put the fronts which I believe is an 8" width all around on the gto

yeah they bolt on - but look how narrow that tire looks on the 18x9 rears, and how much the wheel sticks out - past the fender from the pics.

Agreed, the fitment is not flattering at all.

yep..I bet that rear tire is only a 245. thats not what most are looking to do with a staggered set up with a 9" rim in the back, doesn't make any sense. I think the offset on those rears is only like a +35 or less

I agree with you guys, that rear rim is definatly sticking out and you would get hit during inspection and be made to take them off. It sucks we are so limited on choices for wheels for our cars.

I would heavily consider a set of Hamann PG2's or MVR's.

Heh... apparently my homework was done. I have bolted 3 series rims up to my car, and my current Shuk WR1s were purchased used from a BMW owner. M series rims will not fit properly on the GTO. Sure they bolt up, but do they clear the fenders with properly sized tires? Nope. Thanks for the illustration of my point, by the way.

These are off a 2004 325i sport package car. They are style 119 17x8 44mm offset. They require a custom adapter ring to be hub-centric, but with it they are smooth as glass. I also purchased a set of Pontiac center caps and epoxied them to a set of blank bimmer center caps.

Whatever floats your boat buddy... Just seems like an awful lot effort "photojacking" somebody's ride simply to provide a more prestine(though false) image of your car.
Ya just gotta wonder what goes through a guys' mind when he says, "hmmm, I can't take a decent picture of my car so... I'll borrow a photo of a Monaro, flip the image so it appears to be LHD, then hide all the other tell-tale signs of its identity. While i'm at it, lets
photoshop my rims onto it as well! Yeah, that's the ticket!!"

Geez, who pissed in your Post Toasties? It's just a picture, dude. I appologized; shouldn't have "not denied" that it was my specific car. At any rate, I never said that was my car in the photo, merely showing the original poster what it looked like with the wheels I have. Evidently, this is some kind of major taboo I have broken, to receive such a well-thought-out and time-consuming diatribe. I appologized. Guess that isn't going to do it for you, though, is it? I have deleted my avitar, just for you.
BTW, why exactly are you looking for a Holden steering wheel badge? It couldn't be that you're going to try and pass your car off as a HOLDEN???!!! Why, that would be dishonest!

I paid a little over $400 to have mine welded and repainted. Phantom black is easier to match; darker colors are easier, lighter metallics are a lot harder to match. Cyclone gray will be a challenge to match, that's why the first quote you got they wanted to blend the fenders, roof, bumper, etc. I'm happy I had this done, makes a big difference... the car looks so sleek now!

I currently only use them when I go to the dealership for warranty crap. So they have the stock size 235/40/18's on them. Just had power steering pump replaced. I believe their only 18x8 and 18x8.5. I've pondered buying them and getting the front a 1/2" more and rear 1" more in width. But I do not currently own them. Some member posted a thread where he had all sorts of wheels in there. It was a kool thread and I guess in never got stickied. He has one pic in there of it otherwise I'll post a few when I get home from work.

not that I look at these again it also had 225/40's off my buddies bimmer that were worn down to the bone. So that might be why the front looks so odd. Rears were brand new dunlop's 275/35/18 which had some slight rubbing issues. Probably wouldn't now that I have them rolled slightly.

I actually bought those rims from rt66er, and couldn't be happier. They are 17's, and fit just fine with 245's. You do need the hubcentric rings (search for threads by CsiJason), but once you get them, they're smooth as silk. I purchased two extra wheels off E-bay, and had them widened to accept 275's for the rear. You can find them occasionally on E-bay, just search for 'bmw 17 wheel' and look carefully at the pics. You want factory bmw wheels, and not knock-offs. Hope this helps.
edit: just saw these on e-bay, and they're the ones I have.

Kelly Springfield Fierce UHP (235/40/18) on a 18x8 Miro wheel with an offset of 38 should fit. The 38 offset with the 235's will make sure that there is zero rubbing and zero strub rub. It is the safe way to go.

Are you absolutely positive on that? I'm pretty sure they'll rub unless you roll the fenders. The stock wheels have a 48mm offset and are an 8" rim, look how close they come to the fender lip.... Setting a 8" rim out 10mm more will cause rubbing, even w/a 235/40/18. I'd like to say I'm 98% sure. Not trying to rag on anybody, but am pretty sure you'll have to at least roll the fenders....

I actually could've rolled the fenders an extra 1/4", but decided against it since I already had some minor cracking(little overzealous at times) and like I said the dragbags are only @ 5lbs.
