Got a verbal on the '05 at $500 below MSRP, I think I might just wait instead of getting the '04. I know that in the end I'll be pissed at myself it I don't wait for the 2005.

Yeah, I'm going to need some major support from the, "Waiting for my 05 Support Group".

Someones needs to develop a 10 step procedure for lessening the pain and preventing us from buckling and getting the '04.

I only feel bad that I have contacted a bunch of dealers about the '04 who think I might buy from them, guess I have to break the news to them. It is for the best though, even my wife agrees I should wait even though I'll end up spending about 5G more.

I started sending out emails to the dealers breaking the news. My emails start out with....

Just got done talking to the wife (yes THOSE dreaded words) and...

During my several month wait for my 04 this forum was definitely the major reason that I made it. Also heavy drinking.........I recommend you do a search through a lot of the threads from last year in the Sep-Nov time frame. You will be amazed at the information that will be available to help you through. We knew more about what was going on then any dealer and most of GM.

Ok.. So what is the MSRP? MSRP could be 38K for all we know.

Fast GTO

Word is that it will be below $35K, and the point isn't to squabble over MSRP, MSRP will be standard across the board at every dealer.

Most new cars do not sell at MSRP, usually a little bit above.

Us Idiots that preordered didn't know msrp until November. Never driven the car, never seen the car, didn't know the price. I understand the sickness all too well.

I hope it stays the same or gets a little cheaper. Didnt the C6 drop in pric from the C5?

Well looks like I have a dealer willing to do better than $500 below MSRP. I find this funny since a bunch of you have made verbals for like $1000 above MSRP.

I'm going to be giving a deposit out in the next 2 weeks.

My future 2005:

Midnight Blue exterior, Blue interior, automatic and the rest standard options (I might add options as the price of those are established).

Actually if you click through there it will say something about the Midnight Blue being available in Black and Blue, which is also what word on the internet has been saying.

I actually saw it in writing on that link.

Here it is http://eogld.ecomm.gm.com/NASApp/domestic/jellybea n_popup.jsp?vehicleHasExteriorColorID=14138&vehicleID=1122&regionID=1&typeID=4

You are correct. I should have read it more carefully. It says blue and red can be substituted for black with any exterior color. Interesting to say the least.

How about a Yellow/Blue interior Hmmmmmmmmm

Midnight Blue is only available with the Black interior as the chart shows. The caption to the pop up box for the color is incorrect.

And #3 dosen't say you can switch Blue or Red with any color to replace Black. It says the Blue and Red are no cost, see above chart for compatibility.

Maybe the chart is wrong and the popup is correct?

:secret:

But I would guess Blue will end up being available, if not oh well.

Maybe just a mistake like with the transmission?

:sneaky:

I definantly want a blue or red interior, but I can't deal with another black car (already have one of those dirt magnets).

If I were you, I'd wait too. My only complaints with the '04 was more HP and better brakes.

I sure hope the blue interior is an option. I was disapointed to see it would only be black (in an earlier post). Of course, depending on how dark the midnight blue is, I may not like the combination together (assuming its the same blue interior). Oh well, time will tell...

Well, I now have a quote of $700 below MSRP for the car.

Sweet, my will is however starting to fade on the '05 with all the discounts.

If the 04 goes to a price of 25K I will have to buy it.

I had a verbal for $1000 over invoice, not MSRP(sticker). Check here:

Good deal, you made out good, but why would a dealer take a loss on a new car?

I thought invoice was what the dealers got them for.

bonequark
09-02-2004, 05:20 AM
Even at invoice Dealers make money. It's called holdback and can amount to 3% or more of the invoice price. So when is invoice not invoice? When it's a car dealer.

Fast GTO
09-02-2004, 05:23 AM
Hmm, well I still consider $700 below MSRP good, since most are speculating bloated sale prices between 3-4K above MSRP.

bonequark
09-02-2004, 05:29 AM
When I buy cars, I start at invoice and want to see the papers from the factory (not the gussied-up ones some dealers show consumers). Then I find out what their holdback is on that particular vehicle and negotiate that. Yes, dealers can tell you to get out and this is why some people have so much trouble negotiating with them. But if you're honest and let them know they can make a low-proft sale with little trouble, they will usually listen.

But I used to tell some people to go buy their cars from someone else since I was not interested in their business. These are the ones that come into the showroom with a chip on their shoulder.
