That can't possibly be the right transmission. The maximum engine torque is far below what the engine produces (395 vs 360 in that spec sheet).

So are the shift points and gear ratios different from our 04 brethern?

I have about given up guessing what the 05 automatic is gonna be. Just wait til the car is out and the true specs are known. And trust that whatever they go with is specced to handle the power.

The difference would be the 2004 GTO is rear wheel drive. And your link says the 2005 is front wheel drive. In GM 4T45E is a "T"ransaxle used on front wheel drive cars. The 2005 GTO transmission is a 4L65.

This is definitely not the right transmission. The GM guidebook on DealerWorld shows the same transmission that the 04 has, which is a beefed up Aussie-fied version of the 4L60-E.

ha ha, no wonder dealerships are messed up when you ask them questions.
Oh well, at least this does tell us some information like body styling etc...

Use this for info (http://eogld.ecomm.gm.com/NASApp/domestic/vehicle sel.jsp?year=2005®ionID=1&divisionID=7)
Click on "Print Book", select "GTO", then select the "Print Book" radio button and click the "Print" button. You'll be treated to a PDF with all sorts of information.
EDIT
This has the same error for the transmission code as the other link did. Guess it's no better.

Well clearly not all the information is wrong.
If anything this site tells us what we still don't know, namely type of transmission and the exact colors/interiors that will be packaged together.
Oooh, and the PDF says blue is an option with Midnight Blue. SWEET!
I believe the '05 will have the 4L65-E HD.
This is the same tansmission that GM sells as a package with the crate motor LS6.
In automotive applications it is tuned to handle 400 lbs of torque.
Here are some specs:
