well, ive been looking around, and am trying to decide what tires i want to get on the rears since they seem to be wearing out pretty quick:gears: . anyways, im having a hard time deciding what size i want to go with, either 255/45/17 or get some beefy 275/40/17s. i looked around and have seen that a bunch of people have the 275/40s with no problems, but my brother was trying to talk me out of them since i only have an 8in wide rim, telling me how they are gonna wear bad, and ride bad since the tire is meant for a wider rim.

also, i dont know whats a better tire, the BFG TA KDWS or the g-force sport. on the BFG site, the kdws has better teadwear by 1, and wet traction by 3. on the other hand, tirerack had the g-force sport ranked number 4 and the kdws rated 11th (in their respective catagories), and these are customer reviews too. anyone have these tires and sizes and like them or have any problems?

I've run BFG TA-KDW 2, the ones with the new tread design for nearly a year. That is about 25000 miles and 100 dragstrip passes. I am convinced I will never buy another tire except for special purposes like drag radials and skinnies. I had 245/40-18s on 40mm offset rims and did have some rubbing, rolled the fender gently and have had no problem. I've pulled the 18 inch wheels off and put stockers back on with Nitto 245/45-17 on the back and 235/40-17 tires on the front. I am going to reshoe the TSW 18 inch wheels with a ZR rated tire for my run in the Texas Mile on 25-26 March. Due to the fitment problems I am looking to go to 235/40-18 tires which I have seen others run with no rubbing problems. I am still considering the BFG TDW 2 for all around daily driving though they don't meet the ZR rating I was hoping for.

Lots of guys on the board are running 275's on the OEM rims and other 8" wide rims too. Manufacturers don't recommend it and there will be some bowing as the tire is drawn inward by the narrower than suggested rims. With the 48mm offset of the stock rims you might be able to do a 275/45-17 without fender rolling but I am no expert.

I can state without qualification that in my opinion the BFG TA-KDW 2 with the new tread design is a superior tire that will service you well and also can get you down as far as 13.2 @ 105.18 which ain't bad for a street radial and a poor driver like me.

i like those tires too, i had them on my SRT4 and loved them. the only thing is, the new tread (kdw 2) isnt in the sizes i want. id either have to go with a 255/40/17 which is a 1/2in smaller than the stock tire, or a 245/40/17 which is a full inch smaller than the stockers.
