Somone at newagegto just posted this, they emailed pontiac customer service.

Thank you for contacting Pontiac. We appreciate your interest in the 2005 GTO! Production began 9/13/04. While no date has been announced on when the vehicles will be available, they should arrive at dealerships 1-2 months after they go into production.

The ’05 GTO packs 400 horsepower (295 kw) – up from 350 horses (261 kw) – and 395 lb.-ft. of torque (546 Nm), up from 365 lb.-ft. (495 Nm). Transmission choices are the same as the ’04 model’s: The Hydra-Matic 4L60-E four-speed automatic is standard and the Tremec six-speed manual is optional. GTO’s more powerful engine should lower the 0-60 time to less than 5 seconds.

We hope that this information answers your question. If you need additional information or have further questions, please let us know via email or by calling Pontiac at 1-800-762-2737, between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., Eastern Time, seven days a week. Thank you for contacting Pontiac!

Sincerely,

My '05 order still shows the TPW for 9/20, no change from what it has been. I'll keep checking the computer next week. Maybe that Thanksgiving delivery date is still possible, I hope. :bubbrub

Clocks...keep...running...slower.

I believe production of the 04's started around Sept. 9 and first arrived at dealerships at the beginning of Dec. so if this holds true for the 05 production we should see them arriving in the middle of Dec. Doesn't it take roughly three months give or take a few weeks for the cars to be shipped to the states?

I suspect the 05 Models will get here a lot quicker than in 04. I believe GM will try hard not to make the same mistakes. At least I hope they learned from the 04 launch. :)

Hey guys, I realize the problems some of you had for the 2004's but that is expected from a brand new car being made in a new location.

I would hope, and it is natural to think, that GM (or any company for that matter) would learn from past mistakes and improve on the efficiency of their delivery and manufacturing of the car.

If that's before the rebate, that's a pretty good price

Pontiac Corp. communications is quite unreliable at times. Of course the "05 GTO must have the 4L65E trans, since the new vette needs it & has it.

Does anyone have a contact at the factory who can actually "eyeball" some new GTO's driving off an line in final assembly. Last year we had pics of them being loaded on to a "rusty" (lowest cost) ocean transport ship.

Until we see those pics, everyone is still speculating about delivery to the USA.

The boat trip itself is 19 days. It's the delays on each end that get you

the new 04 VZ monaro also comes standard with the 4l65e (but still with the LS1)
