Hello all,
Looking for information here. Let me qualify my question by saying the gto will have the RMR front fenders. According to RMR the fenders are 1/4inch or 6mm wider then stock, they run an 8.5 wide wheel with a +20mm offset and according to them it does not stick out past the fender edge. I know that there are people running 8.5 wide in the front at +35mm offset, which puts the wheel just about flush with the stock fender. Doing the math on a stock wheel gives you backspace of 6.4 inches (162mm) with 1.6 inches for the frontspace. For the 8.5 wheels others are running gives you backspace of 6.1(155mm) inches with 2.4 frontspace. The RMR spacing would be 5.5 inch (140mm) backspace with 3 inch frontspace. So I have to think I could match the RMR frontspace of 3 inches and then have a backspace of 6inches(154mm) with an offset of +27. That would still move the wheel out 8mm out from the strut. Any opinions about my math?

I'm not sure if they'll fit, I inquired about 9.5 inchers at one point and they said there is no way. I have the Autoform flare kit and I'm safely running 9.5s now and 11s in the rear.

As most 8.5's I've seen on GTO's stick out too far I'd really like to see a 9" up front

Stock front fenders, the tire size is 245/40/18. It does not stick out past the fender and it looks great, the offset i would have to ask John from CCW that. Im running his new model the C14 Corsair Track Edition. 18x9 up front 18x10 in the rear.

That's interesting since I thought I remember people saying the RMR fender's aren't any wider than stock.
I wonder if we could have them go even bigger :)
Maybe do some rears while they are at it!

I've seen pictures of 9" fronts and it looked real stupid because the tire stuck out a great deal.
Keep in mind, it doesnt matter HOW much room you have under the fender. When you turn the wheel and the edge of the wheel catches the inside of the inner fender behind the bumper and rubs because it sticks out too far, dont say I didnt say it wouldnt happen.
Just got off the phone with RMR. When I was down there two weeks ago the goat was away at the paint booth, so no pics.
Today the goat is at the shop, but the front bumper is off, so I bagged my field trip, no pics today either, unless you ask very nicely and very soon.
The guy I was talking to (missed the name) said they have had 8.5" wheels in the front with non-OEM offsets. They think they can fit 9" rims, but it is very tight, didn't sound like they had tried to do it. He did say they don't need wider than stock fronts for drifting the car competitively.
Re: post 8: When I drove down there two or three weeks ago I was looking to fit wider tires in the back, didn't ask about the front.
On that trip I left with a card that says "Blair S., Team Manager". What I heard/saw about the REAR fender kit on that trip is 1)the team is running 275mm rear tires in competition (same as we can fit with rolled fenders), 2) the rear fender kit is basically an appearance mod to make the car look more like a racecar, 3) the construction quality of the RMR piece I held in my hand blows my AP gauge pod into the weeds 4a) the rear fender kit looks like it will fit the stock rear fender opening and 4b) I was told the rear fender kit does fit the stock rear fender opening.
I expect to be out of town for all of Easter w/e, but will tentatively plan to call RMR on my next Monday off, 04-24. If the car is there and together I'll run down, it is about one hour from my place in light traffic.

Thanks for the reccomendation. Sense i have done that i'll keep bumping this thread too.
I'll call RMR again tommorrow if I stay in LA. I am either going down to Torrance to beg, borrow or steal at Edelbrock, or jetting back and forth to Dublin. I'll have my camera in the car either way.

PS: did the guy with teh RMR front fenders on ever update those pics? I asked for some mroe angles...
Yup, found it: http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7445 8&highlight=fender , and there are the more pictures I asked for on page 2 of the thread in post number 48. Dan_E did not give his wheel/tire specs in that thread, but I bet if you do an advanced search, put in user name 'DanE' and limit your search to the tire/wheel section you could probably find his specs pretty quick. Just a thought. BTW Thanks for the pics Dan.
