View Full Version : V2 Hubring updates... And intrest in rings for TSW brand wheels!

First off, the rings have been ordered for those in the pre-order. I expect the typical turnaround of 4-6 weeks on those. Once finished I will have a few sets for myself and Snafu will be selling some sets with his AZA wheel sales through Top Shelf Performance.
Secondly, I also modified the design AGAIN very slightly to allow a tiny bit more expansion room so that the ring should not seize on the hub so long as the hub does not rust under it. (I highly suggest using an anti-seize compound on the inner surface of the ring before slipping it onto the hub and installing the wheel over it. This will prevent rust from forming on the hub with the ring installed. As usual you will still want to lightly sand the rust off the hub before installation however.) On top of that, I am now having a different finish applied which has a somewhat lubricative property and still resists corrosion. The cadnium finish should be black (vs the silver look of prior rings) and should work just as nice.
Lastly, due to the size difference with TSW wheels, the current style hub ring does not fit tightly and I have had increasing interest in the V2 rings for TSW wheels on GTO's. Because of that I am going to take a poll via PM's on how many people would be interested in the billet V2 hub rings to fit TSW brand wheels at the same price as the other sets for BMW specific wheels (Beyern, OZ, AZA, etc). The only difference between these and the above sets will be the outer diameter is several millimeters larger to fill the gap completely and SHOULD fit with all TSW wheels. If you are interested, please PM me so I can set up a pre-order for those who want them and have some machined.

You already know I want some, Jason. First two wheels should arrive today. The other two and tires won't be here until the 9th or so. Keep me posted.

Could you say how much these are again? I forget, didn't pay much attention in the beginning since they didn't originally fit TSWs :)

Same prices as the others, $80/set shipped for preorders. If I can get 5 paid preorders I will get these made. I think their are about 3 people interested at this point, any more takers?

One more bump for this, any more people interested in hub rings to fit TSW wheels specificly? (They should fit other wheels with a 76mm hub bore as well.) Any more interested? At this point I'd need a couple more people to go in on it for it to not cost too much having them made. (IE: the break even mark)

Yes, of course - but I already paid you for a "normal" set. :D

We need some new hub rings. The ones for Discount Tire Direct fit the rim great but have a lot of play in them. I would really like some proper fitting hub rings to get these rims installed correctly.
Already PM'd wanting a set.

Ok i've bounced some calls off different dealers and the best info I could get tells me that the current hub rings should fit fairly well however i've also heard they have a much larger hub bore so I am unsure exactly what size they need. Does anyone have one of the plastic rings they come with that can measure the outer diameter of the ring with a caliper and PM me the exact measurement? I need the measurement of the OD where it slips in as well as the measurement of the tapered lip that is larger than the main part of the ring.

I'll go in on a set for my TSWs
Sorry I don't have measurements - you could probably call TSW for that info though

I should be able to get you the measurments tomorrow night. I am going putting the stock rims on the front to determine the cause of my slight shake in the steering wheel.

Right on. Just take the ring out of the wheel and measure that with a caliper if you have access to one and PM me the resulting measurements.
I tried to call TSW but they dont exactly publish a customer service number on their website. The only number listed was one to find a dealer near you which is completely automated.

So Jason's Gen 1 hub rings will not work at all with new style TSW wheels? Do the plastic POS work better?

I am not sure about the older hub rings working on TSW rims. The hub rings I got from DTD are a inner diameter of 70.2 mm which is larger than our hubs and therefore, the tire does not get centered properly.

This is correct, according to several sources the plastic rings included with TSW wheels are in fact 70.3mm hub bore. I'm working on getting the billet V2 style rings made JUST for TSW wheels to adapt to the GTO's hub within 1/10th of a millimeter.

When might the hubrings be available?

What's weird is with my Mondellos I received metal rings that fit great...Dunno if they were from TSW or from my distributor but they worked with very little play. However I'm still interested in a CSiJason set. I just hope I can get the other ones off...

Jason,
Do you want to measure one of my wheels? The fronts still don't have tires on them and are sitting in my dining room waiting for the rears and front tires to arrive. Just let me know, I can probably meet you after work if you want. I don't have a set of calipers here.....

Yeah, Jason. I got my wheels on tuesday....the plastic rings they sent don't fit the hub for $hit. Jeff (detaildude) and Billy (UDLOZE) from the KCPMC board are coming out tonight to help me roll the fenders...might be a good chance for you to measure these babies up.

Bump,
Since their is enough people interested, i'm going to go ahead and take pre-orders on the TSW wheel specific hub rings. As before, they will be made to within 1/10th of a millimeter tollerance to the GTO's hub and will have an extact fit on the TSW wheels.
Price is the same as the others, $80 shipped for preorders and $85 after then. The people who have PM'd me with intrest on the TSW rings should please go ahead and PM me for details on how to place your preorders as soon as you can so I can get the machine shop going on these ASAP. I expect the usual 4-6 week turnaround with these as with the other rings. Please specify your pre-ordering the TSW hub rings and not the normal V2 style rings as they differ greatly.

I made exact measurements of the TSW rings and wheels and plugged that into the design and placed the order for them already. These will fit into the wheel just like the rings that are often included with the wheels however they are a perfect fit to the hub and are billet aluminum instead of a molded plastic of course.
But yea, they are in process, it'll be a few weeks yet.
If someone ordered the V2 style rings but has TSW wheels, PM me and i'll change your order to the TSW rings. I know one or two people ordered the V2 rings before I finalized the TSW design but I dont recall who they were.
Zenith, I might have enough sets of the TSW rings on the way that I could perhaps trade you up for the V2 rings if you are going to get some TSW wheels instead now.

The rings for the TSW wheels are going to be the same as the ones for the AZA wheels from snafu right?
If so, I need to order a set.....

No, they are extremely different. However after this first batch Snafu may want to stock some of the TSW rings as well. :stickpoke

The V2 style rings came this week and I will be shipping those orders out this week. I have a few extra sets if anyone still needs some. Also Sean at Top Shelf Performance will be my exclusive dealer once these run out. He has a number of sets in stock for ASA wheel buyers and will also likely carry the TSW rings for me after this first batch is sold.
I havent checked on the TSW rings status yet but I expect those will be done in the next couple weeks at the latest. I'll try and find out the status and post again later.

As it stands, the TSW rings are about two weeks out until I get them in my hands. At which time I have to test fit every set before shipping which will take a day or two to do that and repackage them.
Out of the initial batch, I have about 5 more sets left not already pre-ordered so if you need/want them, dont wait because these will likely be gone before I even get them in stock.
