Getting a good buy on some 18X8 Rims 5X120 40 offset, and am looking for some opinions/answers to a couple of questions before I pull the trigger. Did a search, and it seems that the rims will work well on all 4 corners with no problems. My question is - What is the perfect tire size to run on these with absolutely no rubbibg in the rear, 235, 240, or 245 40 18? Am not willing to do any fender rolling on the car. How wide of a tire can I safely go with?

I am running 18x8 tsw thruxtons with a 40mm backspacing all 4 corners no rubbing. For tires I went with kuhmo 712's 245 40 18. It is very close in the rear when it squats, but it doesn't actually touch.

Thanks, that's kinda what I was thinking. Would be nice to get by running something a little wider though, like a 255 or 265, but looks like that's not gonna happen. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

i wouldnt be so sure they wont rub. depends on each individual car. i had the motegi dp10s on my car for about 10 minutes and rubbed liked crazy. they were 18x8 with a 40mm offset and i had nitto 245/40/18s which are supposed to be a narrow tire. the only ones that i feel are sure not to rub are custom wheels or the roh drift r. just giving ya my opinion.

Maybe I need to look at a 235 or 240?

I guess it does depend on the car, cause i've got Motegi DP10's with 245-40-18's and they fit like a glove. No rubbing issues at all.

Don't get me wrong...mine are insanly close to rubbing but they do not. I would say they are about .06-.12 from rubbing when I preload the suspension. I put the e-brake on and put the car in first and slowly let out on the clutch and give gas to get the rear end all the way down.
Maybe I am just lucky that they do not rub.

I run 235's all around just to be safe
