I want to put 255/40 front and back, have looked around on this tire forum and it said with stock wheels you can't run a 255/45 in the front. What about the 255/40? I will be staying with the same brand of tire as stock. If not how about a thin wheel spacer in front? Who makes them and where can I get one? Thanks in advance.

Why? There's 2.5% difference in outer diameter between the 245/45/17 and the 255/40/17. What's the driving force behind this effort? Just curious.

I believe in the front, the stock wheel's offset is still gonna cause a strut rub. I'm running P255/40R17 tires in the front. The difference is my 8" wheels have a +37mm offset. That 11mm farther away from the strut is the difference.

I just want a little more in the rear and still have the ability to rotate the tires.

You'll have to go with new wheels. Probably between a +37mm offset & a +42mm offset.

What about running a spacer on the stock front wheels until I buy my new wheels? As long as it fits over the hub centric area and has one machined into it, it should be okay for a few months??

i run 255/40/17s. no rubbing anywhere, nothing is rolled or cut, and i'm lower than all hell.

I just put 255/45/17 out back and I have no rubbing anywhere and come to think of it they are g-force sports. Sorry no comment on the front I still have stock 245/45

Did you have to have your alignment adjusted to prevent strut rub?
