Round 2 - Road Atlanta GTO Drift *Pics & Vid*

I got back from the Drifting Competition in Atanta yesterday, and I gotta say I had such a great time. It was nice to see the Goat performing sooo great on the track and it lighting up tires all the way down the track. I asked Rhys, if this was gonna be the last race for the GTO, and he basically said yes. He could really give me the offical word on it, but mentioned they're gonna start drifting the solstice at the next event. While I was chattin with him about the Solstice the G4TV Camera came by us and dropped a microphone boom between us. Who knows, I may end up being on TV in June when they air the program. Rhys mentioned they'll be promoting the 2.2L Ecotec motor in it, and the car will be pushing some good power and speed since it weighs 625lbs lighter then the GTO.

After the Top 32 eliminations, I had asked Rhys if he would sign my car, and said he would if I brought it down to the Paddock area, so I walked about a mile to the car dodged parking lot security and parked the car next to his trailer for him to sign. Below are a couple of pics of it.

All in all this was a great event. I would love to hang out with these guys and watch them compete around the nation. This sport is growing more and more in the US, and 'm sure it will be fully blown after the nice Fast & Furious 3 comes out, since these younger generation of kids, do whatever they see on TV.

Great pics. I got mine signed Friday night. I have the 04 so I had him sign acroos the hood since I have the 05 hood sitting in the garage waiting to get painted, and had him sign below the badges on each side. It looks really good. I will try and figure out how to post pictures on here, if not I will try and email them to you. Take care.

He did mention that he signed a GTO on Friday. Yes, Rhys Millen is a very nice guy, it's just sad to see the GTO being retired for these events. It was kinda cool... he was checking out my car and said that's some fat rubber on the rear, and went ahead to see if the fender were rolled. I guess he knows these cars well.

Tanner Foust won it. Rhys needs to get his act together now. He tied in 3rd/4th place with 166 points.

Thanks for posting the pics. I am getting rid of the hood so that didn't really matter and I figured if the sides didn't turn out good then when I got my new hood painted I would just let them fix that as well. Anyway, I think the sides turned out OK so I will have them shoot some clear coat over them and off we go. Take care.
