It's about time to change to summer tires. Bought in september of last year and put on some BFG comp T/A's to get through the winter and basically am purchasing a beater so this car doesn't have to drive through winters anymore. Need a rec on a good summer tire. Nitto 555's? Needs to have some decent traction in the rain but more definitely performance oriented only with decent tread. Running stock size (17's) all around and am thinking of going fatter though after rolling the fenders. Suggestions would be appreciated. Also have spare set of rims for the drag radials so am just looking for DD performance tires.

Now come on. I know most of you aren't running the shitty BFG kdws's garbage tires. How are the nitto 555's on all 4 corners?? Just looking for suggestions....

I haven't tried the Toyos but I love my BFG KDW NT's. They look great, perform great and they have a 300 tread rating.

BFG KDW NTs!!!! they stick as good as my Nitto 555Rs, and the best part of all is that the BFGs are 245s and the Nittos were 275!

Buddy of mine had the BFG NT's on his Lexus IS300. They were LOUD! Couldn't even hold a cell phone conversation in his car at 70 mph on the freeway. I'm not certain if the old IS didn't have much sound insulation in the wheel wells or what. gotza, how loud are they on your car?
I think J.E.T. had tons of issues with the Eagle F-1's.
I will probably be looking at the BFG's, Toyo T-1's, and maybe Pirelli P-Zero Nero when it comes time to get 18" tires (probably next spring when I get my CV8-R's)...

Ditto the noise on the new KDWs. I put them on my Maxima to replace Michelin PS tires and noticed immediately that they were louder. They do handle well though.

I do not think you will find any concensus on this.
For thge price/value/performance index you can't beat Nitto 555R Extreme Radials. Second to that are the Kumhos SPT's. You want to spend a little extra, not too much more, and go as good as you can without having to spend a fortune on tires then go TOYO. Anything else more expensive than that may be good as well, not much bettter, if any. Not worth leaving your money wasted all over the road like butter on bread.

wolfdogs is a tire engineer for the U.S. government, and has had some not-so-great things to say about Kumho tires. I trust his many years of experience and wouldn't consider one of their tires on any of my cars...

I haven't seen BFG G-Force Sport tires mentioned, I had them on my Grand Prix and loved them, they were great in the rain, were quiet, and made the car just a better overall car to drive. Oh yeah, I forgot they're pretty cheap too.

Good Year G3Ds...I have had them on for about 6,000 miles now....daily driver....so far they are spectacular in everything but snow. Very quiet on asphalt...a little noisy on concrete. Better braking in all conditions. Ride is a little stiffer then the BFGs, very stiff when the weather is cold. The price is a little high...If they live 36k miles....it will be hard to change to something else......

I ran the Goodyear G3D3's for about 8K miles without a problem. Then when rotated I couldn't get 'em balanced again for some reason. That started the great tire search. Tried Dunlops, Michelin P2's, Toyo T-1's (best of the lot) and I'm now running on Firestone Wide Ovals which I had to have "trued up" and balanced on-car to get a smooth roll. Blew a weight on one of 'em and having to take the car in tomorrow for another on-car balance job. One thing I simply cannot stand is tire vibration of any kind. I've still got the Toyo's sitting in the warehouse and will prolly put 'em back on when the Firestones wear out, that is unless my son steals 'em for his GT. I'd say for a rain tire the Toyo would be my pick of the lot. Pretty good tire for the money.

I just ordered the 19" ASA Z-1's from top shelf and I went to discount to get tires. I came to the decision on Falken Azenis ST115's ONLY because they have a treadwear rating of 360. I can't afford to be buyin' 275/30's every 10 thousand miles. I had Falkens on my S-10 and really liked them but then again I didn;t have 400 hp I had 120. Anyine familiar with these tires?
The BFG KDW NT's were only a couple hundred more but their tread rating is only 300.

I had to get two of my stock all seasons replaced due to uneven wear, and the dealer put on BFG g-force sports on the back. They seem to be pretty good, and a bit quieter too.
I'll have to take it back to the track to see if there's any performance difference

PS2's are top notch and well proven, Yoko Neova's, Eagle F1's are excellent but we have dealt with quite a few quality control issues with them, imho a T1R does not compare to the tires above, if you are on a budget go with a Falken 615.

Ditto x2 on the KDW's being loud.
