I'm looking to get some rims here in the next couple of days, and after reading all the horror stories of fender rolling, rubbing, etc. I'm going nuts... I'm looking to get either some 18x7.5 or 18x8's all the way around. what tire should i run? I was looking at either 235/40/18 or 245/40/18....what about 45 for the height? 40mm or 45mm offset all around??? I don't want to rub and need to find out what would be the safest bet all around.... Please help.

Thanks in advance..:gears:

If I had to do it all over again, I would go with 245/40/18 8 inch rim with a 45 offset. This would not require any rolling or cutting. Problem is, there are a limited number of rims like that out there, or at least what I could find. I put 245/40/18's TSW Vortex rims on my car (8inch) and I had to roll the fenders a tad due to the 40 offset.

If you took the time to search, you can find all types of wheels that fit right in 18" with 245/40/18 without any modification....

but, with that said...if you want wheels that fit without any modification right off the bat, look at ROH Drift R's, and a good majority of the wheels offered at JHP (VZ's, VY's, etc.)

if you're really feeling good, check out the CCW's, but just make sure you bring your checkbook with you $$$

I looked at the wheels offered at JHP and none of them were chrome (what I wanted) so I guess it will also depend on what mrtosh is looking for.

You can always have your wheels chromed.

ASA makes several wheels that have a 45 offset in the 18 x 8 wheel size. Take a look at Tirerack.

I just switched to an ASA ST4 because the TSW Nogaro's I had where causing the rears to rub on anything other than a soft launch as well as when making hard right or left turns. I stuck with the OEM 17 x 8 size, primarily because I am not into fender rolling or cutting. They listed 3 other styles in 18 x 8, however, if you don't like the ST4. The offsets are 45, so it's very close to the 48mm on the OEM wheels.

Good luck on your search.

K, I just got off the phone w/the guys at the Pontiac dealership, Wheelmax, and American racing. They all say that the stock offset is +36mm!!!! WTF. I thought it was +48mm stock. Am I mistaken???

No, it's 48mm. Have 'em pass the :drink: 'cause whatever they got must be good stuff.

Even if ou stay with the stock 17s, you might still have to roll the fenders just with a different brand of tire. And fender rolling is not the big deal a lot of folks make it out to be. Since you're quite liekely gonna get stuck doing it anyway, might as well get some wheels you really like!
