View Full Version : So, why are our wheel choices so limited?

I am just starting to look for wheels for my car. I really like the black Drift R's with the chrome lip but a lot of people seem to have them (not a bad thing). I want to know why you can't just throw any wheel onto this car like you can to an F-body. Is it the bolt pattern or the offset? I did a search but could not find a really concrete answer. Thanks guys.

alittle bit of both.... it isn't a very common bolt-pattern or offset.... so it's either aussie rims (ROH), (designed for)BMW 3 series rims, or customs....

some have used F-body or vette fitments but it requires spacers on the front and most likely longer wheel studs (depending on spacer size needed)

But even a lot of the ROH wheels don't fit  I don't want to use spacers or roll the fenders. I am just looking for a good looking wheel that will bolt right up. The Drift R's seem like a bargain.

ROH makes some wheels for our specs, drift R's being one of them, ROH Fury is another one that they make to fit (but in 8" wide only), the fury is the aftermarket version of the HSV VX GTS rims (available in different finishes, and slightly different in pattern)

I have the Drift R's love the fact that they isn't any rolling needed to fit them and can get a 8"/9" set.

The lips are a PITA to keep clean...but the price we pay to look good....

Just get some HRE's, they always seem to do on anything i've seen, lol.

have you checked JHP'S selection of factory rims? Since you're looking for trouble-free fitment those could be right up your alley if any of the styles catch your fancy.
