I think so or at least most GTO owners have to when they put 275s on the rear

I'm not going to have to roll mine and I have 275/30/19 in the rear. But I do have drag bags. I keep about 12psi in them and have no rubbing issues at all. I'm planning on having them rolled anyway just because... but... no issues

Not really. Just take your time and make sure you have a heat gun to keep the paint from cracking. Otherwise just have a shop do it.

Snafu-how about ordering from your supplier 18 inch AZA Z1s in Hyper Silver with 18x8 and 18x9 and the right offset to prevent any rubbing and rolling of fenders? I bet you would sell a lot of them. Some of us don't want to do any fender rolling. 18x8 with 245/40 in the front and 18x9 with 265/35 in the rear.

Those Z1 rims in Hyper Silver are the classiest rims I have ever seen.

Hey everyone, I just got back in and will be around to answer questions and calls more quickly.

DO YOU NEED TO ROLL YOUR FENDERS?
The answer is YES. You do need to roll your fenders. Can you get away without doing it if you have drag bags, yes...this is because you are obviously preventing full travel of the suspension. BUT if that bag loses air or has an issue, or you hit a huge pot-hole or curb, you are going to have a cut tire

Here's the thing...in an ideal situation you can prevent the full travel of the suspension and maybe keep them from rubbing or worse, cutting. But unfortunately, the ideal situation is not the norm; driving the car aggresively is going to force the suspension into full travel, and let's face it, sh*t happens. With a rolled or cut fender, you don't have to worry about this at all.

FOR PROPER FITMENT, WE RECOMMEND ROLLING YOUR FENDERS

We have not tested the 18x8.5" 40mm offset in the rears, so I can't say for sure weather or not they will fit without rolling. I think they will, but I can't guarantee it.

AmpedGTO
06-04-2006, 02:34 PM
Snafu, didn't you use to run the 18x9.5 w/40 offset & 275 wide tires & rolled fenders in the rear? The 18x8.5 w/245s setup would be 24-30 mm narrower. How much clearance did you gain with rolling the fender?

Anywho, what would the price be for four 18x8.5s with 245/40 Toyos mounted?

Whatever way you went...do you ever rub with people in the back with the 45 offset rears?

Snafu
06-04-2006, 06:03 PM
AmpedGTO,

You are correct, I have rolled fenders and 18x9.5" 40mm offset in the rear and actually, I originally had 18x9.5" 35mm offset on there!:turbonaug

It's hard to quantify the "amount" of space I gained by rolling, but I was able to fit the 18x9.5"/30mm wheel...but it was REALLY tight. (not recommended)

I do think the 18x8.5" 40mm offset will fit in the rear(30mm extra = 1 1/5") I just can't guarantee it without completely testing it. That being said, I'm going to try to get a stock GTO in here this week to test them out.

I'll put together pricing for you and PM you--I just don't have it in front of me now, but it will be a few bucks cheaper than the staggered set.

Bleek,

Actually, I get 800000000000001 ;)

My fenders are rolled. As I said above, mine are actually 40mm offsets, but aside from that, the answer is no, I don't get any rubbing (and the 45mm offsets will give you even more room  ). As long as you roll the fender lips completely, or cut off a good amount of your fender lip, you should have zero problems with them. :)

$1550 for wheels and Toyo T1-R 245/40/18's, mounted and road-force balanced, chrome lugs w/key, chrome valve stems, and FREE SHIPPING

Hey Guys!

Thanks for the kind words 04GTOguy, and S/F! -:patriot

CC's charged means the ball is rolling! We placed the order with our supplying warehouse...they have the wheels and mount/road-force balance the tires, and ship for us. Avg. time is still ~2 weeks, but it's possible to get them sooner!

We appreciate all the support from you guys!

WEIGHT = 25 lbs/wheel or ~50 lbs/wheel&tire

We will post results of test-fitting after this weekend.

duomaxwell, forgive me but I don't recall (I get confused between real names and usernames  ). Shoot me a PM with your name so I can remember the situation.

Wheelmax never changed their suggested size, they actually always recommended a 235/265 combo...mostly because they themselves have NEVER WORKED ON A GTO. They rely on their database of wheel sizes for cars, and just pick out a tire combo they think "should" fit without modification (I seriously doubt a 265 in the rear will fit without rubbing). Since we have experience with GTO's we provide wheelmax with our feedback and tell them what fits and doesn't.

Why don't they make this in an offset for GTO's? Well you won't like the answer, but it's quite simple...we are a small market in the grand scheme of things. The cost to re-tool and change the setup to mfr. the wheels in our specific fitments is not worth the money to them...these wheels we sell are also designed to fit BMW's, so the offset change allowed them to better fit the GTO, but to still fit BMW's...a compromise of both. This cross-selling allows them to make a larger profit and a safety net when the GTO market saturates (there aren't that many GTO's, let alone ones modding). So that's the reason.

We are talking with other wheel companies on fitment and sizing of wheels for GTO specs, but aside from custom 3-piece wheels (TOO MUCH $$$), it is difficult to achieve this.

I'll keep you guys posted!

I will personally check on your order first thing Monday morning...our supplier often gets the shipments out before they provide us with the tracking information...it's a bit annoying, but the important thing is that they are shipping on time. Allowing us to be a distributor is not normal for them, so they are not used to providing the information.

Hey man,

Sorry those shipments got split up...I doubt the warehouse sent them out separate--must've been a "snafu" by FedEx ;) Either way, I'm glad you're all set now.

Recommended torque is 100 lb/ft, but I usually torque them to 110 lb/ft...with all the stomping I do, I'd rather they be a little tighter than a little loose! :gears:

Weren't these wheels $696 before Top Shelf started carrying them? Did WheelMax and Top Shelf up the pricing due to popularity or something?

Hey Chris,

I apologize if we've been difficult to reach the past two days...due to the holiday this week we were out for a day and have been working hard to get back to everyone. Personally, I was out part of yesterday and today due to a new addition to the family--my brother and his wife just had a baby!

I know TJ has been in touch with you and I will call you shortly.

PRICING
 Well, I'm not sure where you got this information, but it is entirely FALSE. We've actually worked very hard to REDUCE the prices for you guys!!! :D

When I bought my first set of AZA Z-1's over 1-1/2 years ago, I paid about $200 more for the same setup that we are selling now!!! Now I'd say that is barely a price increase!!!

The only thing I could think of that might make you believe they were priced lower is possibly a sale on another style (the Z-1's were never discounted originally)...sometimes when they only have a few left, they'll do closeout pricing...

We always strive to bring you the best pricing and we work together with wheelmax to do so! The two of us are the only distributors for the AZA brand which keeps pricing from getting inflated by other retail stores...we pass this savings on to you! :)

OK, I'm just waiting to hear from you so I know what to do with them. I wanna put them on for the weekend if we work something out, if not I wanna pack them up and not look at them anymore.. because they are awesome looking.

You're right. The Z-1's were $896 according to my information on WheelMax.com. I was confusing them with the Z-15s and Z-10s(2s?) which were $656. :drink:

i didnt see the answer to my question and i might have over looked it but do the 18" z-1 non staggered setup rub? i know they said they were gonna test fit it but i didnt see if it would work or not b/c i really dont like the idea of havin to roll or cut my fenders!! i really love the look of the wheels!! but i will need new tires on my stock wheels soon and i would hate to spend $600 on tires just to turn around and spend $1600 on wheels and tires but if yall could fill me in w/ more info it would be great!!

i didnt see the answer to my question and i might have over looked it but do the 18" z-1 non staggered setup rub? It was in a different thread, but Top Shelf test fitted them and they did not get any rub off of the non-staggered 18's.

Biggest tire size to go on rear non-staggered?

blkgoat05

I believe what they test fitted was Toyo's 245/40/18 tires.

Do you have the Z-2's available with the staggered fitment? If so,how much for the wheel/tire package and what is the approximate turnaround time?

It was in a different thread, but Top Shelf test fitted them and they did not get any rub off of the non-staggered 18's.

My rears hit with 3/4 to full throttle acceleration and no passengers (A4 w/o fender roll). Though it doesn't hit when going over speed-bumps, potholes, etc. I'm going to try some Pedder's springs and shocks before rolling/cutting the fender.

Hey guys!! Glad to see this thread is still surviving, but unfortunately we are out of stock on the Z-1's for the GTO. To answer SilverStreak, the wheels weigh in at about 25lbs.

Also 1fstmach, you have a PM

TJ, do you guys have the AZA Z-10 in 18" or can you get them and how much? What offset is needed for 18x8.5 on those all around, oh yeah Hyper Silver?

In these hyper silver, how close is that to chrome? I want a chrome rim since my car is black but these still look pretty shiny
