Well people...

FedEx ground just dropped off some very light brown boxes today...

My new ultra-light drag wheels that were designed by Dave at Raceware and constructed by Bogart Racing Wheels. These are the ones the "big boys" in heads-up racing use. The pattern is based on their R/T series but strictly for the goat.

R/T Wheels (http://www.bogartracingwheels.com/rt-welded-rearthumb.jpg)

The rears are 15 X 9 for a set of 10X26 slicks or 275-50 M/T Drag Radials. The fronts are 15 X 3-1/2 for some itty-bitty skinnies.

Back spacing was GTO specific as was the bolt pattern.

These are NOT street legal so don't get any ideas...

Just waiting on some trick lug nuts to bolt everything together. Trying for titanium but so far these are only available in 1/2-20 thread. :(

I'll take some pics later but I'll need some help posting them up.
Any volunteers?

Ed

Titanium is a poor choice of material for lug nuts. It galls too easily.

Yeah Dave is great. He was telling me about your rims. Sounds like your doing one heck of a project.

Hmmmm....

Hope he isn't spilling too much... :D

Dave and I go "way back" in the archives of Mustang heads-up racing. Ask him about his AOD/Carb set up next time you call...

I have used them plenty of times in the past with no issues. Tried everything under the sun to save weight. Guess the "never fast enough" attitude is a tough habit to break!

With a 3 1/2" wide front rim be carefull with the backspacing. You may have to roll the fender!

Bump on this.

Ed, I'll host pics if you PM me with the price you paid. I don't know if I want 3.5's up front, but I do want some 15x9's with 275/50's out back. Let me know. :)

The 3.5 front wheels have aprox.2.5 inches of backspacing. No rolling of wheel lip. These are specially constructed wheels so they fit correctly.

What is the offset on the rear 15x9's? It should be around 48mm? And I'm assuming 5x120mm lug pattern?

And any chance you can PM me with the price? :)

Thanks, Padre

Nope..

Still waiting for a light front tire to come in...

I can't believe how heavy a 165-15 steel belted radial is!

Anyone ever try the M&H Drag Radial fronts? Saw them in the "Jugs" :D catalog and they might be lighter than these VW tires.
