i must say that i really love this car but if i could change anything it would be the trunk space..even if GM would put in a smaller fuel tank like 15 gal. .3-1/2 gallons less would even give it around 10 cu ft which is not much better but at least an overnight bag and a couple of sleeping bags would fit..it was ok to have a fuel tank located normally in the cadillac catera which has the same platform as the gto....im not at all complaining just curious....

This is something that I would love to change on mine...but I guess I can deal with it. It wouldnt even be this way if GM didnt change from how it is on the Manaro. The gas tank on the Manaro is under the car, so the Goat woulda had a nice size trunk.
Hey, it fits not one, but TWO golf bags - what else is needed?

I don't know, i've never had any problems with space in my cars. I fit everything i owned into a 94 Ford Probe and drove 500 miles. It was cramped and i couldn't fit a passenger, but i had no problem driving.

Interesting point. Does anyone know if the Catera tank would be a drop in to the GTO?
Anyone got an exploded view pic of the two (Catera vs GTO) trunk floor setups?

My mom has a Catera and the trunk on that car = very good size. Can anyone else confirm what struttrsgto was saying, they don't look like they are the same to me.

I would highly recommend against reducing the size of the tank. This car gets decent economy around town (17-19mpg for me), but for some reason, it goes through fuel insanely quick. When it was nice out, I'd take the car daily to work (40 miles each way) and in two days I was getting down the 1/4 tank mark. My Olds with slighly better mileage didn't go through it anywhere near as quickly. SO going to a 15 gallon tank and one would be filling up daily.
Even my Camaro doesn't empty a tank as quickly.

Big enough for me - holds my hockey bag with all the gear in it just fine.

You must not be a goalie... :)

Nah - I should have put that in - just a center - but still full equipment. The goalies would have an issue with their leg pads - but hey that is what a back seat is for.
