Just wondering...what's going to happen when the current GTO goes out of production. What's going to happen to the GTO.R? Are they going to race something else, like a Solstice (in Formula D) or are they going to keep racing with it. I would hate to see them kill it. Right now it crushes BMW and everyone else.

They are allowed to run the current chassis 5 years after production ends, but can only get championship points I think for 3 years... so that's 2009... just in time for a new GTO.R

At Mid Ohio crew members on the team said they were not sure what was going to happen yet, it all depends on what direction Pontiac wants to go with thier sponsorship.

Yeah they said they were looking into the G-6 :madsign3: but didn't really know what they were going to do it was up in the air
I hope they stick with the GTO.R so we can all go to more races lol

The solstice is a Z0K SCCA spec'd race car - but not Grand am GT level. If you think about the competition and the way the motor/body packages are they would never run a 4 cylinder solstice in that class - no way a V6 G6 would work either. Maybe a GXP solstice but it would have to really be boosted up and would act totally differently than the GTO.R. The GTO.R has a great record for the past 2 years and I think they will continue on and then the hype over a new GTO might carry on the brand in the GT class until a new body is released.

Yea, I seem to remember someone saying "They gave us the go ahead to run the car for 2 more years." That puts it right up to the suspected intro of the new GTO.

I didn't think it would be competitive if they tried even with a GXP version that was boosted up.
I just know I saw a black solstice race prepped car there, didn't know what series they intended to use it for.
