I have been trying to watch these races on SPEED. I am starting to get addicted. Watching the Daytona race now. How do I get involved to become a driver. Not of just these cars, but any race car. I want to drive. Just don't have the money to do so with my own.

I'm with ya brother. Since our Mid-Ohio meet last week and the awesome ride in that GTO pace car I'm hooked. One GTO.R is out but the other one is still in it!

Throw a rock at a cop and take off. That would be an intense race...lol.

Yeah it would be nice to drive in a race... there are a bunch of intro programs through racing schools that you can try... but like you said all those require money.. stupid money!

I do not mind spending a few bucks to get mine on a real track. Just not a parking lot with cones.

Kurt - look into seeing if Lime Rock has anything where you can get on the track. Some of the local vette guys just did something similar up at Watkins Glenn...about 500 bucks for a weekend up there...a hours with an instructor then some track time all on your own.
There's always autocross if you want the cheap way :shiner:

I want to feel the suspension work on a real track. At this point, I wan to spend the money to feel what it can be like. Sounds like you want to run your car City. I am going to look into anywhere closer to Mass, and Conn. A seven hour trip to Watkins Glen is a bit much. Was worth it to see the racing, and meetup with all the wonderful GTO guys. Just not for some track time.

Lime Rock in CT might do some sort of instructional weekends for us wanna-bes :D Besides that I don't really know much about tracks around us.

Lime Rock is a good track, at least from what little I have heard. I thought Skip Barber had a chapter there for driving classes?

I am not sure. I don't think I can contact the track this weekend. Will have to wait till Monay.

Lime Rock is probly best and easiest track in local area (tri-state). It has a lot of elevation, variable speed turns and a looooong straight. About 3 hours from the city on a decent traffic day. You take the Deggan/Hutch/Merritt/Route 8 out there, half the fun is getting there doing WOT on CT 'straightaways.'
