I did some searching trying to find any info about them but came up with nothen. Is there anyone that put Beyern Type 5's in a 17x8 with 40 offset? Or is there a reason why no one has done it. I want to improve the look of my car and the Type 5 looks awesome, but I would like to save some cash and if I get the 17x8's I can just reuse my stock rubber and save a tone of money in the long run.

Now I read somewhere on here that the stock 17" rim is 17x8 w/48mm offset. So with the 40mm offset we're looking at about 5/16" more outward. So it should still look good and shouldn't stick out past the fenders.

Does anyone have pictures of the Type-5 in 17's on a GTO ?

40mm is fine on the fronts. You will gain clearance with the strut that way.

I have a different rim and in 19" but has a 40mm offset. no problems.

IMO 48mm is too close a tolerance in the front, if alignment is a tiny bit off a 17" with 245 will rub.

Okay so 17x8 w/40mm. it is. During my searching i noticed a few people asking about the 17's and even a few people trying to order them, something about being out of stock or back ordered. But as anyone ever actually gotten them and if so, any pictures?

I think they are going to look good in silver with polished lip on my QuickSilver car.

Bob, them are 17's?

I think his fronts are 17x8 +40 and his rears are 18x9.5 +45

the +40 all the way around should be good. You may have to do a little fender roll or grind in the rear depending on your car and the tire you choose.

Well, i will be sticking with the factory tires for now, thats the main purpose of going with the 17's. Well, i guess my mine is made up, i'm probably going to order some 17's very soon.

Thanks for the help.

To be honest, I'm not sure what size he is running. That is a local guys car, I used it because it was Cyclone Grey and to give you a better idea of how the colors look.

I have had Beyern 5 Chrome 17x8 wheels all around since April and they're great on my '06 PBM M6. No problems with clearance or the calipers and they look great. I get compliments everywhere I go. I got them at BuyWheelsToday.com. They were a couple of hundred dollars less that TByrne.

Couple hundred??

Looks like they are $4.79 cheaper per wheel for the silver and $.79 for the chrome in 17x8 size.

i am running the 17x8's with the 40mm offset and have no problems at all. I also bought my wheels at buywheelstoday.com. Their price was the best I could find.

Yes, a couple hundred! buywheelstoday offers free shipping, mounting, balancing and lug kits, all of which are extra from TByrne. Also, he has Nitto 555s priced at $169 and BWT had them for $109 at the time. Once I got the package quote from BWT, I tried to give TByrne my business, but he said he couldn't match the price and to go ahead and get them from BWT, which I did. Ordered them Monday got them Wednesday noon. On my car at 1 p.m. Couldn't be happier. BTW, Bob, thanks again for all your help during the decision-making process...

So, has anyone mounted a 255/40/17 on the front with these wheels?
