OK guys sorry to ask this but by doing the search I couldnt find anything about this. It may or may not have been posted.

Anyways this question should be really easy for people who purchased custom rims. I like to stay away from a fender roll!!

So here is my question - I like to purchase the Thruxton rims for my 2006 GTO.

Front Wheels - 18x8 5x120 40(offset)
18x8 5x120 20(offset)

Rear Wheels - 18x9.5 5x120 45(offset)
18x9.5 5x120 20(offset)

**So here is the question. Since I dont want to go with a fender roll job which offset should I go with for the front and back? The 40 or 20?**

**I was going to go with my stock tires since its 2 days old in the front (235/40 18), but wanted to know whats the MAX tire size I can go with for the rears? From what I have been reading 275's might be to much??**

Sorry everyone just got the car and hate to ask newbie questions over but not a expert with wheels so need all the help I can get. I might be all wrong and just need to get the 18X8's all the way around. If so....then whats the max I can go in the rear then? Better with performance if I may say so...lol..never got the offset thing.

Thanks in advanced
John

My other car....LOVE MY THRUXTON'S

40 and 45's, 20's won't work

you might be able to fit a 275 in the rear, but it might depend on the sidewall of the type of tires you select.

OK great so now its down to the 40(offset) in the front, and 45(offset) in the rear!

Thanks for the info. So do the 45's do anything in the rear by limiting my size tire I can get? If so I might just be happy with some 245's in the rear. Then I should have no problem right?

Thanks again for the post.

OK here is the last question now that I think I have figured it out.

Will my tires rub the fenders on the rear with 18x9.5 235/40 ZR18 or even a 245/40 ZR18?

Thanks
John

By posting a picture of them on your Z, I think you've decided which rim to get for my goat, and for that: I thank you. :)

No problem Omaha...

Now can anyone post on my last question please.

Thanks,
John

Why go with a 9.5 inch wheel and put a 235 or 245 section width tire on it? If you're dead set on a 9.5, at least put a tire with a width that more the "ideal" for that width wheel. I'd say at least a 265. Alternatively, go with 8's all around (with 40 mm offset). Even with 8's all around you might get rub in the rear. The outer edge of the wheel will stick out 8 mm (1/3 of an inch) closer to the fender lip than stock.

I have TSW's, they are the Mondellos, not the Thruxtons - On my car the 18X8 40 offset all around doesn't rub at all with 235-40-18's

The stock 18's are 48 offset. Ultimately, you want to go a few less than that in the front to get away from the strut (40-45) and a few more in the rear (50+) to get away from the fender. Do I have this straight?

I have heard, please correct me if I'm wrong, that if you can get the offset around 50-52 in the rear, 9" or 9.5" rims will work without rubbing. I have also heard that ROH makes rims in this offset.
