OK, so I'm obsessing about choosing new wheels.
1) I've written to AP Performance trying to get info on the Prowler wheel - since I've not heard from them, can any of you tell me any details about this wheel? Is it chrome, what's the up/down side of a 2-piece wheel? Are there any pics of it on a GTO? Will it fit my stock tires?

2) I've google'd on racing wheels, and I believe I've checked every site on the internet that sells wheels. One site has come to haunt me (www.discounted wheelwarehouse.com. For the GTO they recommend FWD wheels. Their fitment explanation is that over time, FWD and RWD have nothing to do with the wheels that drive the vehicle, but rather the bolt pattern. So, if for the GTO, they recommend FWD wheels then it's because bolt patterns are appropriate. So I found wheels that I love on this site, they are the "eagle wheels 109 chrome 17X8 inch with offset RWD" - but according to their fitment explanation, they are not appropriate for my car.

They appear to be similar to the Prowler wheel, but short of other info from AP, I'm still looking. Any suggestions on where I can find wheels that look like either of these that would fit? (BTW - I hate the rivet look - it needs to be smooth around the rim).

I have the Cruiser wheels made by the same company as the Prowlers that you are looking at. They are not chromed steel; they are highly polished aluminum with no clear coating or anything like that. I dont know what the advantage of the 2 piece design is, but i understand that the center part of the wheel is welded to the outer ring , or "hoop" (hence the 2 pieces). You can order them in the size that will fit your stock tires.

I don't know how much you want to spend but you might want to take a look at www.coloradocustom.com.

All you do is pick out a design and they will drill the rim to your specs.
