Has anyone ever painted their wheels to match the color of the car like the disco-era Camaro Z28s???

Well, actually pale champagne metallic. I was thinking of buying Thruxtons for my BOM and painting champagne racing stripes on the car from the hood scoops back and then painting the gray part of the Thruxton to match (leaving the polished lip). Also have considered painting the gray part of the Thruxton orange to match the car and no stripes.

why would you butcher the thruxtons and the flow of the car like that?

I dunno...
If you were going to go to the trouble of refinishing the Thruxtons, I would think Brazen centers on polished lips might look alright. I'm not sure about the champagne, though. Do what you like - that's all that matters.

I wish that more of the bronze or gold wheels were available for our cars. It seems like everybody is doing a black or gray wheel - lots of people around here even painting their stockers black to join the fad. I don't like the really 'yellow' gold, either - that's why I call it champagne. I think that you are right and the BOM colored center with polished lip might look better than the champagne color.
I wish that I could Photochop! :)

Never been a fan of color-matched wheels...looks like 1993 to me. Black, silver, aluminum and chrome are all I normally like

Looks like your front tire sneezed all over your car.

Now a Black on Black (With a Nice Chrome Lip) would look awesome. But thats the only matching I would think that would look great... But then again, who knows till you actually see it done, cause there is always a way to do it right.

Back in 98 I painted my Fikse FM5's white to match my 30th edition Z28. Looked sharp but I wouldn't do it again.

I think that'd look hot if your car was black (w/ your idea of a champagne stripe and wheels). May look good in BOM as well

Check out group A wheels.com They have pics of color matching ROH drift R's... it could help u visualize what a color matching wheel might look like.
IMHO the only color stripes that would look good on BOM is black... not sure how champagne would look. Good Luck with ur decision.
