A customer of mine drives a big trash truck and came across a set of 3-series wheels in the trash the other day. He brought them over to the shop, and since they didn't work on the boss's 5-series we threw them on the Goat for fun.

Why would anyone in their right mind throw those out? What is this world coming to?
I was a Trash man a few years ago and the best thing I ever found was a drawer full of pornos when the carnies were in town. :secret:

The profile seems a little low with those tires... Nice looking none the less. I wonder if the Pontiac center caps will pop in snugly?

Wow, those look really nice. I Bet the 18" M3 wheels would look awesome too. I wonder if the NEW 5 series will fit. I was looking at those today and thought they would look good on the goat.

goat is right those are NOT M3 wheels. They are also likely not real BMW wheels. They're probably replicas. I say this because from the pictures they seem to have the same width (the rear one does not in the picture look to have a deeper lip), while in reality that same style wheel is a staggered set as you can see in the pic that goat posted. Similar ones to that can be found all over EBay.
They do however look pretty nice. Do they rub, or did you just try them on to try them on?

Jason, the tires are 225/45 Potenzas. I wish I could use them since they're brand freakin' new, but I'm just going to throw my old tires on them. The center cap is unfortunately larger on the Bimmer wheels than the GTO's.
The shop is on the north side of Shawnee Mission Parkway between Pflumm and Quivira, on the back of the strip mall next to the storage facility.
The bolt pattern is prefect, the offset is perfect, and there isn't any rubbing. Even with the 245s it looks like everything will clear.
We're pretty sure they're 3 series wheels (as far as offset), and I'm pretty certain they're replicas, but for a grand total of $0 I'm not going to complain!

Nice find, gotta dig some more trash more often, but in Motown there are definitely less imports running around..
Those wheels are probably 38mm offset, ours are 48mm, so they will stick out 10 mm more than stock. Keep an eye on the fronts, I would love to hear some feedback.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, you need to have some hub adapters made up. THe GTO hub is about 67mm, and the Bimmers are 72, so ~2-2.5mm thick A-dapter rings (gotta say it like Johnny Cash :) ) need to be installed to make the wheels hub-centric again. You can have these made out of delrin. I bet if you call discount tire direct, they might have adapters that might work, or at least start with and have modified from there. EIther way, since you are starting with free wheels, you are WAY ahead of the game.

Was just showing that link for other people interested in those same wheels.
There are a ton of wheels on EBay for BMW in 47mm offset that'd fit perfect on our car once you get centering rings.

Has anyone checked? Does Discount Tire sell adaptors? I would love to get a set of the MoMo M1 chrome wheels for the goat. I know that they have been cut for the 3 series so they should bolt up nicely. There's and Audi that parks next to me at work with a set they look very hot.
