Really good to know... I will be interested in the final numbers and fitment on the back wheels as well as the pics....
You are running the real pro-stars... not the XP series, right?
larrysracing

Yes standard Prostars but anymore backspacing might need grinding on calipers, Which I am not about to do.

Staying tuned for final numbers and pics.... I have an 05 and have considered this as a possiblity.

Larry, be careful about the rear rims. I tried them on my 04, but couldn't get a tire of any size back there. You will probably be able to go with a 235 tire, but forget about getting a 275 back there on the rim. To fit a 275, you will need the 10 inch rim with 7.5 inch backspacing. The 10 inch rim may require a small spacer to bring the rim back out.
Here is a pic of the rear tire of my GTO with a 10 inch slick on the 8 inch Prostar. I had the rear fenders completely ground away and the tire still hit the fenderwell on the very outside of the slick tread.

Hope this helps!

Ya, I know the backs will have some issues, Dragbags for sure, my main concern was the front that had no problem at all, thanks for the tip Galen.

I used 15 X 8 on rear with 5.5 backspacing, I'm using 275 50/15 Bf goodrich radials for street, this will also need dragbags, 15 inch wheels where by far the best mod. done to the car, Also bolt circle is no problem at all, and clears all calipers and brake lines, Now it looks like a GTO! Pics. soon.

I use www.photobucket.com. Just register and upload photos. They even have an img url that you copy and paste directly in your post without using the picture icon above the screen you type your reply in.
I assume you are having to use drag bags to raise the rear of the car to avoid the problems I had with fitment.
Hope this helps.

Looks nice. What kind of tires are you running on the skinnies?
Will this work on a 06?

Bf goodrich 155/80/15s jegs has them for 60 bucks a pop, its up to you what you run MT has a better ply tire for around a 100 a pop, yes this setup will work on a 06 but will need Dragbags, they are a very easy installation.

Let us know if you get any rubbing under hard acceleration. Have you installed the drag bags yet?

3 things Larry,
1st, thanks for the post, I have wanted these on my car but didn't think it was possible!
2nd is the bolt circle 4.75 or 4.50
3rd, no other modifications other than the fender lips and drag bags?
Thanks Again!!

let us know when you get the prostars for the rear ....looks realy good !!!!!!!
3 more things.
I couldn't find that ARP stud number at Jeggs, are you sure it's 100-7717?
Do I need the long studs for the rear also?
Are the lug nuts open cap or closed?
Thanks,
Gary

I'm glad you got them to work. When I was trying, they didn't have drag bags out yet and they were next on my mod list.
As far as the studs, they are in fact the 100-7717. They are listed for an EVO. Here is my post installing them on the front of my car.

Get the 4 3/4 bolt circle.
I still think if I were to be purchasing new rims to fit a GTO, I would go 15x10 with 7.5 inch backspacing and play with spacers to get everything right. This would tuck the tires completely under the fenders with no problems.

Lug nut are Mcguard open end Racing lugnuts 1.365 shank 12mmX1.5, Jegs has them online, 100-7717 is the correct long stud for the fronts, I have not installed them yet, I used antseize on stock studs, Make sure you thead by hand, torgue, to 85 ft lbs, then retorgue after alittle driving, I do recommend using the ARP studs, I will be doing the rear studs soon, just have to measure the knurl will update when this is done, 5X4.75 is what you want,You dont have to really roll your wheel lips, Dragbags will cure that, I just did it so if they lost air they would not be cutting the tires. Wheel studs will have to ordered from ARP they are EVO studs 565 knurl 12mmX1.5.

Its all in this thread, look at the top of thread. It goes by wheel size and backspacing.
JasonLS2GTO
08-21-2006, 12:50 PM
i see the wheel sizes and back spacing, but when I do the searches for them, they also ask for the offsets +0 +51 -21, etc...if they are the same, then why would they bother asking and putting it in the options....i dont know this stuff, thats what older people like oyu guys are for, learning.....

Most race wheels go by the wheel backspace, not offset.
