View Full Version : Center ring? wobling wheel/ride

Curious if you leave off the centering ring on the wheels will cause the balance to be off when you drive around. Around 40+ mph the wheel has a vibration as well as I can feel it in my seat. I have never bought wheels that are not car specific.

Well if you have a vibration then I would say yes. You can center the rim with torquing the lugs in a star pattern but it's not as accurate as using hub rings. I myself wouldn't put on a rim without hub rings.

Can it hurt the car in any way if I dont. I plan on going to the shop this weds.

If the wheel is balanced and perfectly centered on the hub then no. But if you are getting vibrations then yes you could do some damage to your suspension and tires causing premature/uneven wear.
