So I got a sweet cut in my front tire at 5000mi and need to replace a tire. I don't want to pay $230 + $60 mounting for a tire that I don't really like. So I am going to get some BFG DRs on the back.
I have the stock 18s and need to know if the 245/40/18 will fit? Also how many miles can I expect out of them? I figure at about 15k my stupid Bridgestones will be dead, so if I can get 10k out of the BFGs then I'll be happy. BTW the car is my DD.

Yes, they will fit. No rub.
About 4000 miles on a DD if you race it as well.

I concur.
On a DD in FL, I'd go with Nitto DR's, they last more like 10k and are more stable in wet conditions in my experience. IDK if they make them in the correct size though.

Thanks. I wanted the Nittos but they don't even come in a size that is close to what I need. Off to order them.

Do you really mean I paid $30,000 for a car that only gets 19k on its BFG'S?
I dont beat my car up, my Average speed is 31, my MPG is 17.5?!?! I can be looking to Spending 800 every 20,000 miles? Yea, I'm pissed....Ralph

You missread. They are talking about DRAG RADIALS. So unless you are running on a set of 4 "factory" BFG Drag Radials, no.
And depending on how you drive, you may "burn" through the rear tires once a year, or sooner, or not. :gears:

I use the 245/40-18 on the wheels as a DD and I have a little over 5K on them and I think I will get another 2500 at the most. This includes trips to the drag strip!
