New Era Performance starting my ZL1 blower install on my GTO. I haven't seen anyone else do this. Should be a fun build!

Currently doing some test fitting. Many pictures and updates to come this week!

I have the same issue. Years ago I did a 112 Maggie conversion. The bigger Holley TB created issues.

I was contracting in Iraq at the time so breaks at home were few/far between.

The Dewalt came out and a hole got poked. Hideous, but it got the car serviceable at least.

Fast forward almost 10 years: New engine, new 2.3L Maggie. Same hood issue as I kept the TB. I love the look of the VFN 3" Sunoco cowl hoods. Just loath the fact they are glass.

My solution is taking the car to a fab shop. $3500 is the bid to scab in a cowl from scratch using steel. They are splitting the subframe, splitting the sheets, and TIG welding the cowl. Then draw file it smooth and reattach the subframe. From there they'll fab the frame work and build that into the cowl's shell as well. The idea being when you open up the hood it takes on the resemblance of an OEM piece and not a cobbled together mess.

Figure another $1,000 for paint.

So yeah, almost $5K for a stupid hood, but what do you do....??

When I sit and pencil this out, glass starts to sound more appealing. I just don't want a flimsy piece of plastic. . .

So, that's one way to get there.

Mod list thus far:

Blueprinted/balanced LS1 block
Bryant crankshaft
Eagle rods
JE slugs
Mezierre H2O pump
ATI dampner
8 Rib conversion serp belt (pending as I have a few parts left to make)

Kooks long tubes
Borla back end
1,000hp rated one piece Drive shaft
Magnason 2.3L huffer
Holley 93mm TB

Fun stuff.

Subscribed! I'm curious about the cost versus other FI options.
