tt cobra vs wrx

Yeah I mean, its evident who going to win this one because ttv8 > everything else, but still, the way this wrx is keeping up with that cobra, I just had to give it props.

Nice.

I recognized the freeway they were racing on. It's I-580 West, near Hayward I believe.

Pretty cool.

Do you know what the mods are on the wrx. Yes that's very impressive to hang with a TT V8 from a roll.

You can see where the torque makes a difference, up the hill...Impressive performance for the WRX, but just can't get past the economy aspect/looks of those...

ha ha, yeah, been up that road a few times, when I go to Santa Rosa.

I recognize the road too and I've only been there once, about 8 years ago (isnt't that funny?). I'd like to see it from a dig.

WRX is kinda neat(ugly looking). I was behind one from a dig going to work one morning and I could not pull away from him. I was right behind him the whole way until we hit 120mph so I backed out. I didn't wanna take a chance to ditch my car for rice. I was impressed. I guess he had mods, Im not sure. I am stock of course.

After catching hell from alot of idiots on nasoic, I do have some info on the rex, but am unsure how definite it is

"The video is old. The car is own by Dan A. I believed during that time he had a full V7 STi drivetrain swap. He was running a GT3040R turbo with a front mount. I think he had at least 440whp."

The reason for wrx owners doing the jdm drive train swap is that when the wrx came out here as a 02 model in mid 01, it was introudced with a weak 2.0 litre turbo motor, also the gearbox wasn't the strongest as well, while the jdm motors were more powerful, revved higher and both motor and trans could handle alot of abuse, plus the trans was a 6 speed instead of 5. I also believe that the intrudction of the wrx here in the states is what started is mad spo-com manufactures turbo war, at the time it came out there was nothing like it on sale here, mitsu sure as hell wouldn't release the evo if this thing didn't come out. I've contacted the owner just to make sure these fact are straight, but 440 whp on an awd car would be somewhere at 523-541 chp.

Heres the story about the car from the horses mouth:

hey,

yea thats my wrx. at the time i was running a stock jdm v7 motor with a rotated gt3040r turbo setup. other power mods were hydra standalone ems, tial 44mm external wastegate, fmic, 800cc injectors, catless exhaust, etc.. that race i was running about 27psi and was on a 91/100 octane mix. on a dynojet the car was making around 440whp. I hardly ever drag race the car, just a one time thing where a friend knew the guy and I thought I'd give it a shot. The cobra owner is a very cool guy and at the time of the race was only on 91 octane and low boost. I haven't spoke with him recently but he was in the process of getting a new clutch and fuel system and then re-tuning on race gas and shooting for 800 or so whp.

NASIOC's OT has it's own culture. If you wade into the something awful forums or read /. at -1, you recognize the culture - same thing with NASIOC's OT.

NASIOC is quite anti-street racing, though, which is a major plus, IMHO - I am rather surprised that this forum seems to encourage doing rather dangerous stunts on public highways. Posting a street-racing video or asking about it is a recipe for a little flame fest.

if that thing was only putting down 440 and it hung with the cobra, then the cobra guy wasted his money.

Regardless they were good races. Those people over there really need to grow up. Seriously they need to get a life. I am tempted to go over there just to troll and see what I can kick up. You show a vid and ask a simple question and it takes 20 posts just to get some kind of an answer. Retarded.

Not disagreeing with you there. But you just have to realize the ... ambiance? Past history....? of the forum. It'd be like going over to a Catholic forum and asking what the best way to have an abortion is. Or going into the FI forum here and posting, "Why get a supercharger when turbos are so much better?" You'd expect them to react poorly, right?

Well, the NASIOC community is anti-street racing. So many people post street races that responses like this are about what to expect.

WASTE OF MONEY EH??? haha did you not see my post? the snake was running 9psi on a very conservative tune... maybe 485rwhp tops... waste of money??? I think not... considering that with a few more PSI and some spray he puts down almost double that...

thats my friends wrx.

he has a forged 2.0L JDM motor, GT3040R turbo, JDM built 6 speed transmission and all the supporting fuel/ecm/air flow mods pushing 27psi on 91 and 34psi on 100.

LIAR! I own the chase car Rx-7, I was there, you can see my face for a split second. iirc rory was running 12 psi. its more of a "tune on 91 before fuel mods" than a conservative tune.

I was a little bummed to see that both cars out run your 7 like that. At least the Subie haha...I also own a 93 SSM Large street port with a 62-1. Nice looking car! What turbo are you running?

yeah, those guys that posted in that thread really need some help or something. While I disagree with street racing when other cars are around, there are better ways to handle it then some of there comments. Immature doesn't even begin to describe some of the comments in that thread.
