Procharger - Owners with Race Bypass - How Loud is your bypass?
So we installed my D1SC on my 05 M6 this weekend. Installed already were Kooks LTs w/o cats and various other goodies.
The ATI Race Bypass valve was already welded in place and is positioned below my head unit.
At idle, just procharger whine.
Anything from 2k rpms on up, this thing almost drowns out my exhaust. I mean it sounds like it's going to suck up small children. Anything about 3k w/o it closing sounds even louder.
I have also noticed the sound deflecting even off of curbs (let alone passing cars) amplifying the sound.
I had some trouble awhile back finding good videos of what it sounds like under load but dear lord, this thing sounds like a JET engine.
I'm already wondering if it might wear on me after a year or two. Currently I'm loving it though.
Anyone else have the Race Bypass Valve that can validate this is how loud they're supposed to be?
BBGTO has one on his. He wrote up an install and has a few videos of it. It sounds freaking awesome! I plan on installing a d1 in the next couple of months and when funds allow I will upgrade to the race valve.

Yes that's how loud its suppose to be..Other GTO owners say they hate driving by me cause they can't tell if there car is still running and actually have to look at the tac to know when to shift. Bottom line, the race is louder than hell.
from the vids i have seen i can tell what ur referring to.. get a vid from yours?
I don't have a vid camera atm, but I plan on taking a drive this weekend and putting the digi cam on vid mode and just hanging it from my mirror. I might also just toss the laptop in the seat and try that method to give you guys an idea.

Cool! I would do the D1 at the same time as the Race valve. It makes a lot more sense than to try and get to it again.
Our dyno day is April 18th, I'm thinking I'll be around 550ish w/ a 4.0 pulley

LOL, thanks Jeremy for validating. Aside from how loud it is, it sounds like a jet turbine winding down during deceleration. I think that's my favorite part.
If you make under 12lbs the stock bypass will work fine. The race and mondo bypass is loud as hell!

I love that sound! BBGTO has the race bypass valve and i can here him coming about a mile away lol. Maybe after I get my procharger installed I can change to a louder one.
