Sarejevo should be pretty safe. I've been there and to other parts of Bosnia Herzegovina before the war and after. Lots of history, fascinating place. There are still US troops in the area, so they don't mess with Americans.

As to Juárez, I lived there. Just don't go downtown at night. I lived in the poor parts outside of town (Altavista and Anopra), which the drug dealers and gang-bangers didn't care about. But it's a tragedy what's happening there now. At least my friends called me to tell me they were safe.

And JT, if you're going to Ciudad Juárez alone, bring lots of 20's with you. It's called a "mordida" or "small bribe". Do it discretely without drawing attention. The best job for a cop in Juárez is on the border. They love gringos. They'll nail you for anything and $20 is a week's wage.

Yes, I have bribed cops in Mexico and am very proud of myself.

Yeah, my boss got pulled over last time he was there for talkingon his cell phone (getting directions from me) while driving. I think he called the customer and they talked to the cop and got him off, he had no cash or anything. He can be kind of stupid sometimes.

In other news, I'm not feeling too awesome tonight. Hopefully it's something minor, but the wife feels the same way.

I think I revved at Cersos on my way home. Corsa exhaust, polished wheels, HID fogs, painted insert.

I hope we don't have to skip the LeMans tomorrow. That would suck . $150 down the drain.

I hope it is not the H1N1 flu. My wife is an NP and the office she works in is seeing more and more of that. A few folks at my work have it/just getting over it. FWIW I'll tell ya what helps me if its a virus type of thing: if you have a juicer, juice up apples, carrots and 2 or 3 beets. Its like an instant energy drink for the rest of the day. I know the beets thing might sound kind of rough, but juiced up with apples and carrots you barely taste them. I swear it works. Just remember the beets later on in the day when you pee, otherwise you'll be in for a surprise. Give it a shot!

What a sucky night... All the way to commerce... Get her on the line pop the clutch and pow..Blown CV axle... Didn't even get to make one pass.

So, I had to call in a favor from friend to get it home. The cost for that was to get all of you to show up for the heavy race http://www.ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=329966. I plan on going. Even with 1/4 tank I'll make the weight. I gotta go see if his supercharged wimpala, can handle my little NA goat on tires.

Why a date with a lead sled? If you needed a pull, I could have pulled you on the brand new 20' 14k trailer tonight.

If you have something to pull the trailer with, I would highly suggest taking a look at it. I know you can get a wood deck or an open floor trailer (one in good shape) for a little less or a crappy one for $1200-$1500 but this one is in really good shape. I've pulled it to NC a few times and all over the state of GA. Luckily I've never broken and HAD to have it.

One disadvantage...if you trailer into Commerce, they charge you the higher race fee as they say "well the car must not be street legal if you are trailering it."

I've got a buddy with an Impala SS, I'll have to tell him about the heavy race. He hasn't had it to the track yet.

And Ahajr, now you've got me scared. That (and my clutch) is why I've been avoiding the track the past year or two. Only GTO-specific events for me lately so someone will have an extra axle on hand in case I need one.

JT, the SSHS event is the unofficial National Impala event and guys from all over the country show up. Your friend will feel right at home and probably get some good ideas on what to spend mod money on

2 years not going to the track?

Yeah, he already wasted his money on a "chip" against my strong advice. As for me, my last time at the track was this past spring. A gimpy clutch has kept me from going back.

He's going to be working the stop lights of buford for the next couple of months....practice, practice, practice.

It definitly broke the CV joint, pushed the balls through the casing.. Anyway, the axles are out and the replacement kit is ordered. She should be back up by next weekend.

The intent is just to get it home on bad nights. I wouldn't trailer it in. That defeats it's mustang and impala eating purpose . My son and I are contemplating building a rice drift car, so it would get used. Wishful thinking at this point probably. So, don't wait for me, if the opportunity presents.

so you want to build a drift car ? How about a Pontiac Solstice that you can build from the ground up, cage it, gut it, etc and not feel bad about it?

14,000 lb capacity. Two 7k axles. I was only wanting a 12k trailer, enough for a skidsteer and at least one pallet of anything landscape related. Finding a 12k trailer was proving to be hard so I went for the 14k. It's an overkill for sure, but the trailer should be able to hold ANYTHING that I would ever need to move. This is one time I can say that I went overboard.

That'd be nice, but we want a junker under $1k to gut and build.

I drove by there on the way back from Braselton yesterday about 12. What a muddy mess. Watched some of it when I got home. Not a good day for the race.
