I did a search, but for some reason I wasnt really able to find much...Here are the car's symptoms
1. driving down the road the car seems to "buck" slightly while travelling at a steady speed.
2. CEL comes on and remains solid
3. intermittent rough idle (car feels like its going to die)
4. loss of power
Here's the weird thing....the above symptoms will happen, then after a few miles of driving the light sometimes goes off, but then a few more miles and its doing the same thing again. Any thoughts on what this could be?
check your plugs. you may have gotten bad gas somewhere and burnt one of two up. there could be misfires

sounds like a plugged cat converter
if u have a po420 cat efficency then a converter is ur problem
if u have a po300 random missfire can still lead to a converter issue
Any answers here are 100% meaningless until you get the car scanned and post the actual Pxxxx code(s) that was/were set. There are dozens of possible codes and we have no way of knowing what yours is.
Go to Autozone for a free scan (unless you are in CA), or find someone nearby with a handheld scanner or tuner that can scan the car for you. Get the code(s), come back and post it/them here. Then we can help you.
And, please complete your profile so we know what year GTO you own and your location.

P0327-Knock Sensor code
P0171-Fuel Trim Lean Bank One
P0300-engine misfire detected
First, I'd fix the Knock sensor problem, as it may be (and probably is) the root cause of the other two codes.
Is your car an 04, or 05/06?
If it's an 04,and as it is an intermittent condition, the knock sensor harness would be my guess. The sensors/ harness are located underneath the intake, in the valley cover. I'd change both sensors (gm part number 12589867) and the harness(gm part number 12601822). The ls1 setup is the same as several other gm motors with this problem. We see many here where I work fail from people steam cleaning engines (usually used car lots) then the CEL/MIL light comes on.
If it's an 05/06, the sensors are on the side of the block(i believe). As with any sensor problems, check the connections first and then the sensors. The number for the sensors for an 05/06 is 12570125.

Awesome- the 04 is a more common problem in my experience, and harder to change out. Make sure you get the harness too, as it tends to be the problem, and I'd change both sensors- since getting to them is rather labor intensive.
