Since G8Board is being kind of useless now, anyone want to give opinions on these?

Set-up 1:

Boston Acoustics S60 Components in the front
Boston Acoustics S65 Coaxials in the rear
Boston Acoustics GTA-1005 5 Channel Amp
Boston Acoustics G212PS Ported 12" Enclosed Sub
JL Cleansweep

Price: ~$1000

Set-up 2:

Rainbow SLC 265 Components in the front
Rainbow SL 165 Coaxials in the back
Boston Acoustics GTA-1005 5 Channel Amp
JL Cleansweep

Price: ~$1000

In this set-up, I'd skip the sub until the summer or so.

Would it be wise to wait on the sub and get the better speakers in the Rainbows for now?

Also, not sure if I want to go with the Boston Acoustics amp even though I've always heard good things. Should I spend the extra $130 and go with the Alpine PDX-5 amp?

Oh and putting all that stereo equipment may or may not be seen as "stock and staying that way."

I have this exact setup in my GTO and love them. The S60s in particular sound fantastic.

+1 I have S60's in all four corners. I mounted the rear tweeters at the rear deck to raise the soundstage. They sound great.

I'm currently running:
- Polk MM6501's up front.
- Polk db651s in the rear.
- Rockford Fosgate p-400 for the highs
- Rockford Fosgate p-1000 for the sub
- JL 12W3v2 Sub

Before I got this setup I spent about two weeks researching every possible competitor available for the money using Crutchfield and other sources. After hearing the Focal, Boston's, Infinity's, and a host of others I came to the conclusion that the Polks had the best overall sound range for my tastes. For the money and build quality the Boston's are a great buy but the Polk's and even the Infinity's will sound just as good.

Just my 2 cents...

speaker selection is totally subjective... honestly depends on what you like and what music you listen to and more than anything installation. all the equipment you mentioned is good quality. i would go listen to different speakers and see what YOU like.
asking people what speakers are better is like asking what flavor ice cream is the best.

also i would skip the rear speakers. if your doing the install yourself spend as much money as you can on sealing and deadening the doors. then spend what you can on deadening the trunk, assuming thats where the sub is going.

Skip the rears and get your sub. Could also run a cheaper 4 channel that way. If I had to pick an amp to bury I'd look at the JL HD series, awesome amps and unbelievably tiny.

I'm partial to Boston Acoustics... but I would recommend the Pro's if they are in the budget.
