lost 5 hp/tq!

I was cruising down the road when a state trooper decides to flip a 180 and pulls me over...the whole routine was funny because he was doing the textbook cop thing questioning my passenger and I trying to find fallacies in our stories, drugs, weapons the whole 9 yards, i was clean as a whistle so i was laughing at him especially when his back up arrived. All in all he gave me a warning for no front license plate and to say the least i am smurfing mad cause now my gto looks like poo from the front, sports cars are not meant to have front license plates. i zip tied it to the lower grille and i have to say the car feels slower! front license plates ftmfl!

yea that sucks, some cops just have a bad day or have nothing better to do. I never understood why some states require front plates and some don't.

I agree, it's much easier than trying to work out the front license plate issue.

That said, I need to move out of California..

For far more reasons than just the front license plate law.

You gotta have one in VA, but its a secondary offense, meaning they can't pull you over for not having one.

You can be pulled over for no front plate in TX, I know from experience. I used to run w/o one on previous cars because it always looked better without it. Nowadays, I'm older/wiser and just don't need to give the cops a reason to pull me over.

Plus my car is one with the dreaded LP-bracket holes in the bumper anyway.

So...you laughed at him, especially when his "backup" arrived?? That, along with a limo tint (in your sig) and no front plate, you're smurfing mad?? Dude, grow up and deal with it. You got off lucky with just a warning. Maybe next time he'll have a worse day and give you the citation(s) you deserve.

He was probably just laughing at them because of the resources and time they wasted with that stop. Not at them personally.

That stop should not have required backup. And really should have just been a ticket, a warning and that's it.

I disagree. Any/every car stop should require backup. The cop doesn't know who or what he's pulling over. Just because it's a routing traffic stop doesn't mean that it's safe. I personally know 3 cops that got killed in the past 2 years because they didn't wait for backup on a traffic stop.

Front plates do suck and states that require them suck too. I'm still getting my bracket removed and filled next year.

I didn't understand the front plate law either, until my car got vandalized.

The perps *backed* out of the parking lot. This was in Arkansas, where a front plate isn't required. Since they backed out, I couldn't get their plate and therefore couldn't identify them.

Out-of-state registration is were its at. Even though Illinois law requires a front license plate, I have yet to be stopped in California. Same goes for my front tints.

Just because they were killed doesn't mean that you need 2-3 cops every time someone runs a stopsign or changes lanes without a blinker. If the cops in your story called for backup and didn't wait for it, well then that's kind of their fault there. Doesn't mean that every stop requires the officer to call backup.

Ha, I guess even Oklahoma has something good about it over some states - maybe you can get a football team one of these decades?

No emissions in OK is the winfactor, though.

what i use to do work the two times i got pulled over... i just could not bring myself to drill holes into my car to mount it right nor did i want to go the cheap route and do zip ties...

and although granted there does not need to be backup on every stop it is a good thing to have my dad is a cop and it is a dangourous job and even though we dont like em some of the time (myself included) they do an important job...
