I know this is kind of old but I've always owned black cars so I'll just add my .02$ on what i have used

Turtle wax, in the green can, works good, but it gets pretty hard and doesnt come off easy.

Turtle wax black paste, Stuff works wonders on the front end of a black car, covers up all the little nicks and chips you'll get, then look even worse when your white colored waxes get in those chips and dry making them stick out even more.... (use gloves) I tend to just use this over whatever wax I'm using at the time on the front of the car.

Turtle wax Ice, used it on my brand new RX8 many times, stuff worked good for me, but many bitch about it from what I read. Worked best for me cause I have no real shade to work in, super fast and could do it at anytime. Haze comes off easy.

Meguiar's 1-2-3 kit works good, soft paste, goes on easy and comes off the same. Fixes paint more then just the basic wax.

Mothers Hard wax, works good, on and off easy. Wouldnt say it did much more then any of the above but smell.

Adams fine machine polish. I just got this stuff(well the full kit) works great, and its gray/black so it works nice on the chips/scratches also. It's only been on the car a few days so I cant say much about it. Made for a machine though.

I live in Miami Fl, wax doesnt last very long here. Everything seems to have around the same life span for me. My cars get lots of dirt, water and sun on them all the time. Most annoying of all to me has always been anything that dries white.

I don't think the salt water will present much of a challenge, it'll be the heat and all that crap in the air.
Report back in a month!
I had my car parked outside for about a week in Las Vegas when it was over 113 degrees- on the way back home it rained and the water still beaded right off.

I know exactly where (md80) you're talking about... We shall see. I have the mequiars but am partial to the mothers spray, it smells better and leaves things a hair better imo.

i always try new stuff......in terms of wax......there.....my favorite is this stuff called FW1.....the one i bought says racing formula.....idk what that means.. but i bought it because it had a picture of a monaro on it so i figured it must be good.....cant find it in any shops though......i found it random at a gas station when some guy offered it to me.......i found it on ebay though..

n e way....i like the stuff.....i reccommend it......its fast and very easy......great results.......btw works on anything......chrome....paint......tires...glass.. ..rims... plastic.....

removes tar...bugs....sap....grease...most anything.....but i like to at least do a wipe down with some water and a micro-fiber before i use this stuff n e way.....
