Yes, I paid the money in cash and got a receipt.

Yeah,
but they NEVER have someone just pay $620 and take the car else where. They are at a loss for putting it back together and for me to walk away.
I did NOT want them to have my car for another minute. And they hated that. They did everything:
"I hate to see you throwing you money away for nothing"
"How are these other guys gonna do it for cheaper? I'm gonna give them a call and shake their tree"
"My boss and I are trying to figure out a way to leave your vehicle open and not charge you all that...you know my boss is willing to do the work at COST"
"listen, your trans is in Libertyville branch, cause your trans requires a special way of opening it up"
"Let me call you back" he never called me back except for when he was giving me the astronomically high quote.

I would just tell them straight up, "Look, you guys are obviously trying to smurf me in the ass without any grease. I can have a reputable shop pull, rebuild, upgrade, and reinstall the tranny and clutch for half of what you are trying to charge me. Get my shit back together so I can come pick it up at 4:00pm, or I will have the Sheriff with me when I come back. You no longer have permission to have my car in your posession."

I remember taking my old dodge truck in for a clutch at pepboys (I know ,I know.. haha) and they had to take my exhaust off to get the trans out. When it was finished it sounded like I had no exhaust at all and hardly ran! They f-d up the flange on the headers and the exhaust would no longer seal and broke my crank sensor (somehow it still started and sorta ran). It took me a month and a half of phone calls to the corporate hq and I finally tracked down one of the DM's. I called the store he was at and told him he needs to buy me new headers which cost a hair over what the whole clutch job cost. He got the service manager on a 3way call and the guy tried to yell at me saying it was like that when it came in.. I told him he will have to pay or he will get a call from my lawyer. I got a cash refund for the full amount the next day that he was too embarrased to give me himself. Haha. I then went to another shop to have them make a flat flange for the headers which cost me only $100! I ended up getting a new crank sensor and putting it on myself. I would definitely try and get your money back! Sorry for the long post / hijack

Yeah, problem with alot of these chain shops is they have no real techs in house. They pull it, ship it off and some guys builds it, you OFTEN times do not get your tranny back cuz they had one already done on the shelf. It bites but it has become the norm. I had the tranny built in my Jeep by a guy that came HIGHLY recommended and it is perfect. When he took it apart he called me to come look at it before he did anything else. The same shop put the clutch in my GTO because I was very pleased with thier work the first time. From your initial post it sounds like someone put the wrong fluid in your tranny? I dunno how in the hell you do that it's just ATF with an H designation. I'd be killin someone down there. AND did they fill it at the fill hole? If so it was about a quart and a half low. Book says to remove to backup light switch if I remember right. I just jacked the drivers side way up so I could get the 4.5 quarts in it, throught the fill hole. Man your luck has been horrible I hope it gets better.

That was nice of AAMCO to offer the repair at cost, what they were offering you was now to fu** you with lube so it doesnt hurt as much. You should have stuck your ground on paying with a Credit Card and then immediately file a dispute with your CC company, that is why he wanted cash, I would still raise hell as they did not fullfill their part of reinstalling the transmission and I guarantee now that it is at another shop that it arrived missing multiple bolts and parts that will only be discovered when that new shop tries to put the jigsaw puzzle back together, AAMCO on purpose kept parts and pieces to cause you more grief and so they can say you see you should have let us finish the job, I would call the local news and do a story in front of their shop and try to embarass the hell out of them in any way, these types of shops count on people just taking it up the ass and keeping quiet, start screaming as loud as you can, picket in front of their shop, remember the squeeky wheel gets the grease.

AAMCO customer service left me a voicemail this morning. I'm going to call them back in a few minutes, got all my notes out, this is where they MIGHT refund some money.

Need to research Finishline trans RPM trans, those are the two I'm looking at now. With a Monster stage 2 clutch.

Good luck dude. Good job on getting your car out of there and calling higher ups. Sometimes you have to make mistakes that cost you money, but at least it only cost you $600 and not almost $7000. You did the right thing by coming to the forum for advise.

Yeah you better not have paid them a frickin dime....they didn't deliver it to you how they said they would.

Edit - - Read you paid them CASH?!?!? I would have paid in credit at most and about a minute after said someone stole my card, and do a chargeback on anything less then 24 hours old that way they couldn't recharge you if they had your number on file AND you would be beginning disputes with them over services rendered.

You don't know much about business dealings do you? I'm sorry.....but do you have a trusted friend or family member that could help you out in the future?

Does anyone have any good experiences with Finishline transmissions vs. RPM transmissions.
And between the monster clutch vs. the centerforce?

I've searched the forums but couldn't really get enough details. The monster seems to be more popular.

Okay,
I'm going with stage 3 monster clutch and finishline street performance T56.
What do you guys think?

I'm going to keep my car, not sure if I'm ever going to go beyond 500 wrhp.

I have the level 5 RPM tranny and it has worked fine for me. Didnt take long at all for it to be delivered(about 5 days I believe). I had a couple buddies come over to the house and had the stock transmission out and the RPM one in about 6 hours later. We werent in any real hurry. I didnt have any issues installing it and has about 3k miles on it so far.

It did have to be shipped to a fedex freight but theres one a couple miles from my house so it wasnt an issue to me. I think they can ship to businesses as well.

Got off the phone with AAMCO's customer service. Lady tells me that each AAMCO is owned and operated differently, even for the tender they have the right to choose how you should pay. That's no good. So, I'm going to make sure the Credit Card companies know about this.

The manager at AAMCO calls me up and apologizes to me for any hard feelings. At this point apologeez don't mean anything to me, they are just words. The damage is done.

Tell him his apology would mean much more with $600 attached to it.

Probably not.

People here told him not to pay the $600. Or if he pays it, to use a CC. He didn't listen and did exactly what his buddy mike at Aamco wanted.

Advice becomes worthless when not followed.

You are right probably not going to get any money back, sounds like a young kid that will learn the hard way, If it was me I would be out front with a picket sign and creating so much negative attention for this AAMCO location and their vendors, I would call every tv station radio station and BBB and creating so much crap for these rip-offs that they would pay me my $600.00 and pay to get my car fixed at the other place, places like this will continue to prey on the un-suspecting and un-knowing till you hurt them where it hurts = the cash drawer!!
