All that talk I was doing about thinking of selling my GTO, what was I thinking? I was going thru some of my videos and I came across this one...
(The rattling is from the headrest mount, I've since fixed it. The beginning is a little slow at first, but that's streetfire's fault. If you play it again you'll see the first part the way it should be seen. Otherwise enjoy, hahahaha.........)
What road is that Rok,I want to go take mine down that now.PM me if you dont want everyone to know.
Very nice run by the way.Im glad to see you have changed your mind.

Thats a nice stretch of road you got there. Lucky for you there wasn't much traffic that day. Roads like that are a blast.

Outstanding vid there ROK. Glad to hear that the Goat is staying with you. Wish we had roads like that on Long Island that won't get you a million 911 calls (i.e. Swamp Road!).

Jeff, (Chips GTO) yes that is the road you test drove the ROKET on. And Jay, that's Miller Falls Road in Middletown, it comes out right by exit 20 off 91. (Country Club Road) My speed was between 25-45 mph, and you can see further down the road than it shows on the vid. There are some spots where you just have to keep it tight in the turns. And if a deer did jump out, well lets just say if I don't get killed the insurance company can fix the car. I will NOT go off the road and hit a tree for a deer. The deer will be the target, of course I will do what ever it takes not to hit it, but will not go off of the road.
I've been cruising that road for at least 35 years or more. We used to take that road when I was in High School, but then we would go faster than that just to scare the crap out of you. Now I would never go faster than 40-45 mph on it. Plus we used to hang out at the water falls, you can see them from I-91 between exit 20 and 21 on the north bound side. It was a popular keg party area back in the 70's and 80's. They have since put up cement blocks so you can't park or drive to the falls, but the "kids" still go there.
I love near the end you just go "YEahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
Not to be a prickler but those roads have a lot of houses on them and seems to populated for me to drive on. Come on out here and there's some real windy roads with straight aways you can romp on it without worry. Route 317 from Woodbury to Bridgewater then switch to 67 towards New Milford is always fun.
Then there's the good 3/4 mile straight away and extends to 1.5 mile if you blow a stop sign on Upper Grassy Hill Rd. and Route 317 intersection. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...01929&t=h&z=16
Google maps has the mileage wrong....

ROK
I will have to take a ride this weekend up there and go for a cruise. Thanks for the heads up Rok I will go try it out.

I understand what you are saying Erik, but 99% of those houses are set back from the road and most of them are horse farms or the like. That's not to say that someone could pull out of a driveway or some other thing happening. I take full responsibility and thank the car gods that in the 35+ years I've been down that road I have never seen a car pull out or anything that would make me slam my brakes on. I have though had to pull way over to the right when an oncoming car is over the line on my side going around a corner a couple of times. Luckily nothing has ever happened. And at the end of that road if you take a right and go about 1/2 mile the State Plolice Headquarters is right there. You can see it from I-91, but then once you pass that that road is wide open twisty and winding road all the way into Meriden. It's about a good 10 mile romp with no houses and a good 90* turn, where you have to shift down to second then right back up to third. We have roads like that all around my area just like you do. No city boy here, burbs and rural all the way!!!!
I know, I know, Nic, you and I are the original members of what is now called G.O.N.E. You and I organized the very first Multi-State New Age GTO Meet of the North East in Sturbridge MA. The first Annual GTO Meet at the Moodus Sportsman Lodge in 2005 which you organized and my brother and wife cooked at. Man I miss that Moodus Meet. If you can still hang on to your GTO, then I will do the same. Like I said and you quoted, "What was I thinking?"
