Ebc Red Review...

I'm done with the yellows and I am now testing the RED compound.. My calipers no longer look as if they belong at Mcdonalds, lol..

Anyhow, I've used the reds before in many different applications with varying results, both good and bad.

My initial thoughts were WOW... The first few miles were met with lots of brake dust to the break in coating wearing off.

In previous times, the reds squeak quite a bit during break in and sometimes for the life of the pad. I am happy to report that there was no squeal at all and I am still in the bedding in process.

I am happy to report that stopping power is very good and seems to be on par with the yellows. The brake stopping power is there from the first cold application, where as the yellows, quickly build up stopping power as they heat up.

There is a lot less pad to rotor transfer in the first few miles than what is common for the red.

I will post new info as soon as I get some hard miles on them. Feel free to ask questions if needed. Pics to follow.

A little update on the new red material...

The break in squeaking showed up, lol. They started to squeak, not very loud and after another 100 miles or so, It's going away. From the looks of the rotor, It looks like I'm 80% bedded in now.

The stopping power is superb guys. I'm putting it right up to the yellows overall and the yellows have more, only when you get em really hot.

I don't see any hot spotting on the rotors and/or transfer left over as noted before with the reds.

I'll be back when they get fully seated....

I bedded in another set of reds tonight, no issues. It went perfect. EBC has really got their act together with their new red compound. Look for it, AF88.

I will have the completed review soon. As for now, those who have been hesitant, don't be. The new reds are very good.
