"Runday Sunday" TnT on street tires

Just a friendly get together of my Sarasota peeps.

2012 E63 Biturbo
2006 GTO (me, obviously)
Late 80s Mustang 5.0 convertible but with a different (bigger) block
2012 ZR1
SVT Lightning

The Lightning went 14@100 ~ish

ZR1 never got a proper 60' on Michelin PS2s... went mid 12s high 120mph
Best run for the Stang 12.1@120
Best runs for me 12.3@121, 12.2@120

...and the Merc? Winner winner chicken dinner.
Traction control can be a wonderful thing.
11.8@124, 11.8@123, 11.8@124, etc...

The rest of us were struggling to launch.

I had full interior, 3/4 tank, and Conti DW tires with 20k miles on them. DA = 500-900ft.

Very nice Ray, looks like it was a fun time! I was debating on going, but ended up not. Were there a lot of cars/long line to run?

Lines weren't bad at all! 50/50 trailered/street machines and they kept things going quite nicely -- that, and nobody smacked the wall or laid down fluids. I left a little after 1pm.

I didn't decide to go until about 9am. I was already headed to SRQ yesterday to meet the folks for an early Thanksgiving dinner, I just went 6 hours early so's I could beat on my car and do some grudge racing.

The Mustang has a dyno sheet of ~500rwhp but he (probably) weighs a few hundred # less. I (probably) dyno 20-30 more than him. We've been trying to race each other since 2011 Hot Rod Power Tour when we both rebuilt our motors but it never happened until yesterday. Mustang vs GTO the cars were dead-nuts even so it all came down to DRIVER MOD!

The ZR1 didn't use his launch control?

Not a bad time for a big Merc? Same mph as me in the turbo. Nice runs!

ZR1 had better launches without TC for whatever reason. I'm guessing he needs more seat time. He could never go full throttle until third, else he would light the tires up.

Also, his buddy came out there with a new, unmodded TT911 -- clicking off 10.9@127s. Simply amazing those cars.

I think with a proper set of wheels, weight reduction, and a few more simple mods a 10s slip could be in the works for me. That's the goal, anyhoo!

The 997.2 turbo cars with the PDK launch control are hard to beat.... Lol.

You are on your way to a 10 slip!

Those are some hot times. The air that day was fantastic, not to mention the track temperatures for the majority of the day.

I was the guy out there with the stock '06 IBM

That thing launched like a raped ape.

I have a few 8th mile slips 7.3-7.4s@96.5mph... I know the car is close to cracking into 10s with a few more minor mods. I know *in reality* that I'll be chasing the dragon's tail for quite some time. Who knows... I do know it'll be a blast trying to do it.

I honestly can't remember what color I was wearing, but yeah I was in the blue '06 GTO.

My better times were upper 13s, 13.6 being the fastest of the day.
