The plastic trim wont come of the factory glass. Notice my car dose not have it. It scratches very very easy and is extreamly hard to keep clean. Also, the weight savings is minimal. In my application it helps because 30lbs here and there add up quick, but on a full interior car it's not worth losing practicality in order to shave 10lbs off your car. If your only doing the rear quarters you might save 4-5 lbs. replacing all my glass with polycarbonate shaved 36lbs. Unless doing a full blown track car it would be near the bottom of the to do list.

Drat. There goes that idea. Although your car looks great even without the rear quarter trim.

Thanks for the info!

I picked one up in Indy a few months ago for $500. Needed a clean chassis to use as a mold for the rear quarters.

Are there any plastic headlight and tail light covers made for the Gto? I can only seem to find film covers. I have no use for a complete headlight assembly on my car and don't feel like buying new sets everytime they get bumped and cracked or have mounting tabs brake off.

Why not try to find some cheap bulb mounts and just put polycarbonate (it would have to be really thin) over the openings? I'm guessing all you need functional is brake and headlights? Maybe cut the stock lights apart, mount the bulb surrounds securely farther back into the chassis, and put flexible plastic over them?

GtoDrifter have you ever thought about taking it to the 1/4? I'd be curious to see how you do with all that weight gone.

drift suspensions are pretty stiff, and usually aren't very good for weight transfer in a 1/4 mile. He probably would have some bad traction issues at launch, but would then make a sick trap speed

If I went to the track it would take 10 minutes to do a quick rear spring change and unlink my front sway bar. I'd guess low 12's.

Although your car is a drifter, have you taken it to a drag strip in its current form (or close to it)? I'm curious as to the times you would run.

I got a feeling that little corrola would run away from me with the power output that thing will have. Next years pro am season should be pretty epic. You'll be in top 16 at every round for sure.

I guess I just don't see the point in taking it to the drag strip. It would spin the tries past the 1/8th mile mark lol. Probably pull off a mid 14 @110-115 lol

when you removed the factory abs/tc, did you keep the stock master cylinder/booster? if not, what did you replace it with?

Nice build. Guessing the cage added close to 100lbs. The lexan should have offset that weight addition.

What saved the most weight when you took it off or was it just 30 here and there?

Seats. The factory seats weigh more than the roll cage I put in the car.

I think the front seats alone are 65 lbs each. How much do you think the AC removal helped?

Damn. They had me fill out like 6 pages of paperwork because they told me they were going to do a full feature on the car. Did a photo shoot and everything with them. I'll have to call and see what the deal is. Maybe there just waiting for a later date...
