On my way to Lowes I finally saw my first GTOs down by me today, a PBM in Melbourne Beach on Ocean Ave (A1A) at 3:00 and then a IBM on A1A in Indian Harbour Beach at 3:10 and nobody waved. ... well maybe because I was in my Grand AM.

Are you down here for good yet? We should schedule a gtg to introduce you to the locals. Come to think of it...you and I have never met face to face either. We've just been BG and LS1GTO acquaintances for 7 years! LOL

No ... still working in ATL. I actually brought the car back up to GA for a private track rental this Saturday. I'd be up for a gtg when I bring the car back down. Probably need to take her over to Orlando before they shut the track down. It'll suck having to drive to Jupiter to race but at least I trailer her.

So I know I don't post much anymore...I know I suck. Anyways, I'll be home or 2 weeks in December before going back to Afghanistan in January. Maybe we could do some sort of gtg?

Last Saturday I went to the track, Silver Dollar, for the first time representing Florida and came away with a new PB of 11.200 @ 121.02. Guess I'll have to wait and see if I can make it to Orlando before they close shop.

Wow...that's probably the lowest 60ft I've ever seen on a full weight GTO. I need you to help me get mine down from a dismal 2.1 so I can finally run an 11 second pass. The mph is there @ 125, but my 60 is pathetic.

The BBQ is going to have to wait a little while. In the mean time, are you guys up for a gtg at JD's in Rockledge to eat/dring/watch NFL playoffs this weekend? Sat or Sun, you guys pick...Weather forecast is better for Sunday.

Question. I'm ordering the Rollmaster double roller timing chain and ARP bolt now. I also am going to order a new harmonic balancer. Mine seems to be the cause of eating belts, causing the squeal and I believe it is worn out. Now do I go with a Dorman replacement or a Summit Racing much higher quality replacement? I'm leaning towards the Summit one.

Dorman

Summit Racing

I don't want an underdrive one.

Have you considered a new stocker from gm parts house? Or...better yet, a very low mile stocker for cheap. I'm sure someone on here has one.

What makes you think the balancer is bad. If it is shredding belts, it may just be loose.

I didn't take a hard look at it but the grooves seem worn and I think I saw a crack in a few of the groves. It was raining so I didn't look too hard, I'm going to try again tomorrow. It also looks to be slightly off balance. I read if they wobble the rubber in them is worn out.

And the GM on is rather costly with shipping. I never thought about a used one. I've been reading the the GM one's aren't the greatest and are known to shred belts and cause humming/whining issues. Supposedly after they stopped making the GTO's they updated the design but they won't fit on out crank snouts. I'm still trying to figure out what is different.

Meh...overly optimistic! I heard the grumpy mechanic at the auto hobby shop tell someone the prices are going up next month. Lifts will go from $10 an hr to $12 an hr.

I could have my vendors mixed up...again. I know there are some quality high hp 2-piece drive shafts available for about the same amount that you are talking about spending for that one piece. The drive shaft shop makes a nice one.

I can sign out a heat gun from work any time you need it...let me know when you need it.

Maybe you're thinking Non-Sponsor Engineering. They say they make a 2-piece but they actually are just a reseller of The Driveshaft Shops. BMR made a few shafts for awhile but people kept breaking them and I think they discontinued them as I can't find anyone that sells them.

The only makers of shafts I've been able to find is Gforce and The Driveshaft Shop.

And I'll let you know when I need that heat gun. I'm going to open up my tail lights and replace the internals with a doner set I bought.
