I don't like those particular monaro wheels much, so my vote is for the first one, even if the multispoke is sort of played out (I'd still look into a set for myself if they were the right ones and the price was good)...There is only one style of monaro wheel I like (the ones that make the car look like a hot wheel), but not for the $$$ they must cost and I'm sure oem wheels are heavy compared to nice aftermarket.

I would go with CV8-Z wheels, or HSV wheels.

Yes.
Even the township didn't want the 17's to fill with cement to hold up temporary traffic signs, they said "this ain't the ghetto".

CV8s!! The VMRs give it too much of a German look. Best fit for smaller cars IMO. CV8s just give it more of beefy, sport look.

Depends on the look you want. If you want to look lowkey and stock ish then go CV8's.

CV8's are a more curvy version of stock 18's.

If you want wheels that say "these are not stock" then VMR's.

I agree VMR's are played out, but it's because they are one of the best looking wheels.

You can always try some BMW M6 wheels that would be more in line with the VMR's...but people will say those are played out too lol.

Spend $$$$$ for wheels from across the pond and retain stockish look or be told you bought wheels that are unoriginal lol You pick.

I vote VMR's of your 2 choices.

VMRs are only played out online. I have yet to see a GTO with these rims in person in all the years theyve been available. Id rock them in a heart beat.

I've only seen 1 GTO as well lol. I have also only seen one G8 with them.

The GTO I saw was an QSM 04 lowered on coilovers with 05/06 hood and Monaro front conversion....Quicksilver's car. He swung by when I was having my car tuned by Proxses and my wife was with me. I immediatly said to her "I want my car to look like THAT!" (arm stretched out pointing at it) lol

Whatever you do make sure you stance it. Can't go wrong with low offset and skinny tires.

I still browse GTO's on auto sites from time to time to see if I can spot a deal or two, and everytime I see a car with 17's on it I have to mentally tell myself to ignore how horridly ugly they are and imagine some 18's on there.

They really do just flat out ruin any car they are on.

This, I have never seen them in person on a GTO.

I was thinking some jank ass setup like yours, but lower, more poked, and skinnier. Something like a 10 offset, 20" wheel, 12" wide, and a 175/25/20 drag radial.

Hi.

The wheels the OP posted are NOT CV8-Z's. They are VZ's.

That and yes they are readily available and reasonably priced too considering they ship from AU...

VZ's are powder coated silver.
CV8-Z's are, I believe, machined faced with a clear coat and the engraved CV8-Z lettering.

I picked up a set of stock 18's recently to hold me over because i just can't stand one more second of looking at the stock 17's on my Goat. Your guys input has helped me a lot decide on what to get and i've decided that by the end of this year i'll order a set of VMR 710's. I just apsolutely love the look of them on our Goats plus i can get a wider wheel in the rear which i would like a lot

+1. I seen a lot of VMR here, but I'm the only one around that have VMR's here. Or at least I haven't seen another one in San Antonio. I'm on flat black 718's right now and thinking about getting some gunmetal or hyperblack 705's with summer tires or a set of the MM6 that modbargains sell and keep the 718 with winter tires.

From your choices, I'm partial to the VMR's. I don't like stock looking wheels. Also the if you like that style you could look into the Enkei GP5.

Skipopeye360 is correct the VZ's and the CV8Z rims are different in the lettering etching and finish. Below is a crude cell pic of the CV8Z rims I bought off of Nick! before he sold his QSM that was fully converted to a Monaro. I will have better pics in the Spring when I get my GTO out of storage.

They don't hold a candle to VMR's in my opinion. But it is just that an opinion.

Not as thick as the CV8 but at 18x8 et42 and 18x9 et 45 will give you a staggered fit for less than 1/2 the money.

Just bought a set of these GP5s in shadow black chrome for my dad's SR '06. Couldn't be happier with them. Sorry for the crappy cell pic.
