There was no before, didn't dyno it. The peak power isn't impressive, 420 through the auto. However it made that peak power at around 5800, well below redline. So it's great for low and mid range torque and being a vette will do just fine up top. Steve did say when they did a software update they saw a "number" drop on the dyno.

Also, as I mentioned, my biggest seller is the driveability. I had 2 different cams in my ls1 gto, have another decent size in the 408. All of those have been a PITA. This setup in the vette runs awesome, no surging, so bucking, you can't even tell it's been modified when you are just driving around. That's exactly what I wanted.

Congrats wish you could have kept both but I am sure it was worth it, just make sure you dont act like a typical vette douche owner which I strongly believe you will not. Again congrats on the ride.

What makes people leave the GTO for the Vette? Just curious. Is it the looks?

The near 1,000lb drop in weight, the ability to fit more wheel combos without worrying about cutting, rolling, tubbing, or rubbing. The factory track suspension, the handling, etc etc etc... Oh, and the resale value. Those were my reasons.

I made a chart weighing pros and cons between the two vehicles and it was not cost effective to me to try and make the goat into something it wasn't. I just don't love any car that much... I'll get sick of the vette in a year or two and upgrade again.

Briefly drove a C5Z and it was nice but at the time I had an 05 STI with 450awhp. So it didn't seem like much to me.

I have friends with C6s and they have to take them to the shop for all their mods because they can't do anything on them themselves.

I'm one of the few people that actually like the looks of the GTO. My friend has a C6 with all the weight reduction done and I have all the weight reduction done. He is 350lbs lighter than I am. I without a doubt think the GTO is the better quarter mile car based on what I have seen. But when it comes to handling and looks the Vette gets it. I would like to have an auto Grand Sport but I just can't see demodding the GTO and putting it back to stock and having a huge monthly payment on the Vette right now. I'm thinking I'll rock the GTO for another year or so and get something else. Who knows, I'm kicking tires with ideas right now. I have to get a car since my company truck has to stay garaged at work now. If someone offered me the right price for my GTO as it sits I'd take it. But demodding and all that would be a lot of work and time.

Re: Replaced the Goat....

Get headers without cats and it'll be loud without the fuse in.

And have new seat covers on standby.

I'm about 190 lbs and on the scale mine (C6 Z51) weighed around 3500 with me in it. My GTO weighed 39xx with me in it so its no where close to 1k lighter.

PS, watch out for the front end. Its a lot longer than you think. Stay away from curbs when you pull into a parking spot.

+1

The car is short. You don't need to pull all the way in.

Somewhere...there is a ZR1 owner saying, "Meh, it's not a ZR1" about a picture of a Z06.
