Snapped ear at shifter mount

I was re-attempting to replace my shifter (06 m6) earlier, trying to get the torx screws that are at the white plastic cover and the one at the right front snapped the ear off. I tried to search for someone else this has happened to before and couldn't find any results. What I'm mainly trying to figure out right now I suppose is basically what kind of position I'm in now to go forward. Is this something I can work around? Inconsequential with the new shifter? (hinson btw) worse? any help as always is much appreciated.

If you snapped the ear off of the original shifter mechanism (orange arrow), that's a non-issue. You will toss that piece in the scrap bin.

Now, if you snapped the boss off of the tail housing (blue arrow), then that's a bigger deal.

Thanks for that!!! I was mentally preparing for the worst. Wound up taking the same approach for the others now since the screws almost immediately hopelessly rounded themselves over. So glad to have seen the light of a proper shifter.
