Went thru the same fiasco back last summer when I was installing mine. I couldn't find any local place that had foam tape, and the shortest roll I could grab was that stuff I linked.

Found a great use for the other 48 yards I didn't use on the spoiler though:

It did a fantastic job sealing the air gaps between my garage door panels.

Well, a bit of surprising good news. DHL just called and said they will be refunding me the $33.58 duty tax they charged me. I am shocked, but this is correct. When I was checking into this I found that auto parts of any value can be imported from AUS without a duty.

So, without a brake light appears that this spoiler would not pass NC yearly state inspections.

Why not? There is a third brake light in the back window.

Window should take care of it. Don't see how the state could mandate positioning, only visibility and general location (centerline).

Mine has three imperfections under the clear coat. Two under the left overhang tip, which will only be visible when the trunk is open, and one on the upper surface, also left side. This one I am more concerned about as it is clearly visible. Seeing what JHP says.

I didn't pay DHL? I paid JHP $377 and $180. Never paid shipping.

DHL charged me an import duty tax, collecting funds for US Government Customs. Customs should have never charged for the tax in the first place.

This. Rear window third light covers this requirement. The only reason for the one in the stock spoiler is because it covered/blocked the one in the rear window.

It is soooo nice to see out the back window. The V2 is noticeably heavier that the stock wing. That kind of surprised me. Outdoors the color match is perfect. I've not found any flaws in mine. Got the mounting tape this morning and mounted it up to the car and then finished my LED light conversion (turns, brakes, backups). 427 tails are beautiful too.

They changed construction to something else then. My V2 is hollow fiberglass and is significantly lighter than my stock one. Been meaning to replace the original trunk struts, but now with the V2 the trunk stays open as whatever position I place it at. It would slam down with the stock spoiler.

So three of us had the same problem with the same nut.
The guy making these has got to be a real slackass.
Mine is off about half the hole too.
How hard could it be to reposition that nut in the spoiler?

It'd funny, that back in tha day, folks were having a difficult time paint matching and blending our colors. And these come from Aussie land and nail it.

Car looks great.

When I ordered a bunch of stuff from JHP I was dangerously close to 427 tails.

Ok, good to know. Always wondered why the stock spoiler came with the light and believed it to be for state inspection purposes.

Or it might have been because that big-ass wing blocks the standard light in the rear window.

Yep, which is why it was added; because a 3rd light is required by law to be visible and it wasn't once that big fugly was added.

You know, it's funny that I just called it a fugly wing. I used to actually like that wing till I installed the V2. Now I can't even imagine putting that thing back on my car ever again.

I like both. I could happily switch back to the wing. But I like my V2.

Not only does it have the imperfections mentioned above, the "bottom" right hand hole (when the trunk is all the way open) is so far off the pre-existing hole in the turn lid that you only see maybe 10% of the threads...

Man, am I disappointed in this thing.

Yeah that would put me off too. JHP not doing anything to help you out re: the imperfections?

Has anyone sent feedback back thru JHP to let them know that the mounting holes are not in the correct locations anymore?

Sounds like they need to have a discussion with their supplier to get the issue corrected.

They have said they monitor this thread and have posted here a few times but I have not directly commented to them about the mounting hole issue. I will later tonight.

Now four of us.

It'd be easy for the maker to verify the position/placement of the nuts but like I said, slackass.

Gents,

Two things:

1. Anyone else receive a spoiler with the holes off center besides me and BLACKGTO?

2. Who had the remnant tape roll? PM me, I'll buy it.

Thanks,

LR

I just installed mine today and had the exact same hole is off by 3/4 of a hole. I haven't started to bore the hole just yet, need to make sure I don't crack the paint on top of the deck. I did notice the left side looks off a bit even though the holes lined up. I have never had luck with aftermarket appearance parts lining up, this is the last piece I'm going to get. I also found a few spots with dust holes in the paint, the color looks to be ok but not impressed with orange peel. What's the trick to elongate the hole without damaging the paint on top? Thanks....
