Finally bought a Bassani catback for my 2005 GTO. Install was pretty straight forward, except for one issue. Does your passenger side intermediate pipe sweep way low by the diff? Considerably lower than the driver side? I can't even get the pipe high enough, with the hanger parallel to the ground to get it in the rubber hanger (see photo). Note the hanger in the background, you can see I have it going diagonally up into the rubber hanger. Cannot get it parallel with ground. I see no reason the passenger side couldn't be up and more snug like driver side.
I have rotated and rotated. I could maybe use floor jack to push pipe up and get into hanger? f course when that pressure is released I assume that rubber hanger will be stretched quite a bit. Disregard old catback I'm straddling
Exactly. If I turn those intermediate pipes where the hangers are parallel with the hanger they going to hook to, there is no way this system is going to tuck nicely. I don't get it. I even swapped intermediate pipes from left to right to see if maybe I had the wrong side. No dice
Here's a picture of my Bassani exhaust. Its a real pain to get everything liked up. I never did get the tips centered in the exhaust cutouts, need to get it on a lift to make it a little easier.
Thank you for the photo. The intermediate pipes have different hangers welded onto them. Can you tell me...the hanger pic below, are you using the intermediate pipe with this hanger on your driver side?
Yes I'm using all of the hangers provided with the exhaust.
I think I'm dealing with 2 issues...
1) The only way I can get either pipe hanger up to the factory hanger is by using a floor jack to push the pipes upward where they are supposed to be.
2) I'm using the supplied clamps and I don't think I'm getting them tight enough. I noticed this evening even with a cheater bar I was still able to twist the pipe side to side even though the clamp was "tight". So I'm thinking as I'm buckling things down, the other piece of the pipe is actually twisting the pipe just a little making it lower to the ground while I'm tightening the rear clamp
